  1. Ok, I am very curious on this. I have seen Cummins videos online and I began to notice that when I turn my key to "run"(engine off), my oil pressure goes up to full operating pressure and not one other truck in those videos have. I'm aware of pre-oilers but I have not seen anthing unusual about the oil lines nor any pump sounds before or after start-up or shut-down. Any ideas?
  2. I know the 98+ trucks are idiot gauges and the 97- trucks are supposed to have "real" readings but what exactly are your alls gauges saying? And for those of you with mechanical gauges, what do they say in comparison to stock gauge? I started my truck up and got 90psi at around 800rpm, and 35F engine block. As it warmed up I was seeing lower numbers and after running a few minutes was down in the 70's. As you can see, the gauge in the cab hardly moved, and of course is no where near actual pressures..
  3. Hey guys , having an issue with the oil pressure , when I start the truck Its at 40psi cold idle, when its somwhat warm its 70-80 at 2500rpm. When the truck is at full operating temp its at 20-25 psi at idle and 40-50 psi at 2500 rpm. i have checked sending unit, removed it and placed the manual guage on for these readings. I have also checked the oil press regulator on top of the oil filter mounting bracket, the spring seemed ok and the plunger moves freely in the guide. I am about to pull the oil cooler and replace the oil relief valve ( i think thats what is called) and the gaskets. I am also going to change the oil and filter. I was running lucas oil, but I think I may switch back to rotella. Any ideas that you guys would have would be helpfull.
  4. Just curious what everyone is seeing for oil pressure. I'm seeing 60-70 idle cold engine, 25-40 idle warm engine and 50-60 cruising down the highway.
  5. I know I have read this before but here goes anyway. My old motor ran around 40 plus on the oil pressure, new motor runs on the edge of the next mark up. A big diff. from before, and I know it could be the sending unit which I can swap out sence I have a new one on my old motor. What would the next mark up be? And where does your gauge run?
  6. The oil pressure on my truck always reads above 40. It is usually just before the slash mark between the middle 40 and the max 110 readings. (On the stock gauge) Is this alright? Why would it show this high? Thanks
  7. So it's done it since I've owned the truck, but anyway...Turn the key on: Oil pressure goes to about 40-45psi on the gauge. "Wait a minute.. I haven't even started it.."Stays there, too, after I start it, and drive it. It stays put there, as long as the key is on.. If I unplug the Oil Pressure Switch harness, it goes to zero, so something tells me it's the actual pressure switch?... At the nice price range of $180 (Rock Auto), to $212 at Advance Auto Parts; Auto Zone wants $193 for it.. :nono:Is there something you guys may know about that could be causing this? I mean, something like the 'low oil pressure) TSB, but opposite, obviously.. :)Thanks.
  8. I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge from another project that I want to use on the 05. I know the port on top of the oil filter housing will work but I'm using a needle valve. It wont fit because there's a hose right next to it. Is there any other port I can use? Thanks,Eugene
