  1. New to this forum, seems like a knowledgeable group of guys (shout out to y'all) However I'm having issues with my 2001 5 speed. She has a quadzilla adrenaline tuner, scheid diesel 100hp injectors, and an edge boost elbow. After installing the injectors she has a slight white haze coming from both the exhaust and the engine compartment. Both are very light. The exhaust gets denser when accelerating, and sometimes turns black. It seems to smell normal (not sweet like coolant, or like burnt oil). What could cause these symptoms if of concern at all? It also is is jerky/studdery at around 1200 rpm, but smoothes out at higher rpm, or harder throttle input. Also I have a stock clutch, with very low mileage on it. It seems to rattle under harder acceleration, is that just due to the clutch not liking the torque?
  2. My truck has had a random skipping idle with rpms jumping up and down slightly on tach. It skips at any rpm range and very noticeable. I recently upgraded the injection pump because of the computer issues. This didn't help it out at all. I have checked fuel pressure and checked for air in supply to pump. It seemed to have started when i upgraded my injectors to 40hp injectors. I have replaced all seals on injectors and tubes. I did scratch a couple tubes. I did bleed air from every line at head. I don't know if the tubes being scratched would cause this bad of an idle? I can firmly say that from the lift pump to the injection pump is good. Im thinking it is down to connector tubes, injectors or valve guides/seals? I would be surprised if the new injectors would cause this though assuming they were pop tested and have new parts to them. Also the blue smoke is excessive during start up and will last for about 5 minutes before clearing up. It doesn't sound much like a miss (Like loosening line at head), but it doesn't seem to be firing consistently. Could an internal leak in the head (i.e., connector tubes) cause a weird idle? Truck starts great every time. Seems to drive alright. What do you think?

I have a 1998.5 3500 5.9 Vin 6 24v CTD, have put in a remain VP44 from O'Reillys, a new lift pump that puts about about 16 psi WOT, DAP 100HP injectors, and have done a block test and still cannot manage to figure out why i have white smoke at WOT. It blows a puff of white on a cold morning but after reaching OT my programmer kicks on and it'll be black for a while then it seems as if randomly it'll turn white, then if i turn my programmer off it still smokes white. I have no idea from here. Any ideas?
  4. Yea. As of today I had to drop my sub-level again. Getting to smokey as summer time started coming on and noticing more and more smoke as I would be towing and/or launching with a heavy foot. I'm wondering if others have notices anything like this with warmer weather? No ill-effect to MPG's at all but the smoke level is slightly higher now than was during the winter time. I'm also wondering is the injectors changing for like a break in process and flowing more?

My truck is stock and only 119,000 km but it failed the emissions test today.This is an opacity test.Reading was 30.8% (just over the required 30.0%Oil was changed and filters changed (intake, oil and fuel) recently.Because it gets mostly city driving they suggested I take it out for a beating and come back so I did.It failed again, this time in the low 40's??!!The only trouble I've had with the truck in the year I had it was shifting points so I played with the TPM to correct it when I got the truck.Does the TPM talk to the main computer to adjust fuel delivery?Could this be why I get the black followed by white smoke at kick down? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INPUT.
  6. I have been seeing this a lot lately and don't get what the deal is with them. You guys know how gassers give off steam on very cold days in the winter that only lasts like, 5ft out the exhaust pipe.. Well I keep seeing CR's doing this, only with black smoke. Same amount of smoke as the frigid gasser but black. I followed a CR cummins yesterday and we were doing 55 on level ground (I barely have to give it any fuel at all to hold that speed) and his was blowing a little black smoke the entire time. It only seems to be the CR's with this issue and isn't brand specific as I have seen it on all 3. Only thing I can think of is dirty air filter. What else could it be?
  7. Ok heres the latest on one of our trucks...Now theres , what a peers to be, white smoke coming out of the drain tube that connects to the puke box in the front of the motor. What gives, and what does this mean???
