Man this sucks I just finally got back to the fuse blowing problem on the trailer and found out what happened. Standing at the rear of the trailer the 3rd right center marker light decided to spit the plug and allow it to bounce around and melt the wiring out. Oh Great...

Is that the travel trailer or the big tex the melted?

Kinda figured that. I guess it does'nt make much difference, sucks no matter how you look at it.

I've got the plug order up at NAPA. I just got to get them sometime and do the work. I've got to cut the plug off the end and re-wire a new trailer cord on. Then rewire all that mess in the tube.

don't bother with buying low voltage wire for dc.... use old construction cords instead. Nice sheathing on there and everything.

Hmmm... There is a thought but every thing is in a tube or channel so there is no exposed wires to the outside of the trailer. All completely protected design.

I've got all my new plugs for the rear tail lights I just need the time to do the repair work. Been really busy around here between shop work and site work.

I've got this all repaired. Damage was rather minor really. All the melted wires were right there at the lights. After looking at how BigTex does wiring in the tail is awesome with everything a molded connector. So back to standard crimps and butt splices. Oh Well. The trailer plug was done pretty cool too. They had spade connectors and then inject some sort of sealant into the void of the wire to seal the bare connectors. Sad I had to hack that off and replace the plug too. There is no exposed wiring. They managed to create a small void along the frame rail for all the wiring to run down the driver side of the trailer.

You did what you had to & glad you got it done.

I like the shrink tubing over the connectors but absolutely hate it when I forget and think the shrink tubing goes on after I made the connection

Didn't bother with shrink tubing. I know its all within a tubed frame and not like being exposed under the trailer like most. I know optimally it would of been best to shrink it all. My shrink tubing supply is very limited.

That's good. They do make a rubber coating that goes over electrical tape after the wires are wrapped for protection.

You do know you can get crimp connectors with heat shrink already on them, don't you?

Yeah... But I didn't have any at the time. I'm out of the good stuff all I got is the old standard crimp on stuff.

Some JBweld ® Kwik™  mixed will seal it in a pinch.
