Shifter Knob

Took my shifter knob off, kind of mangled the knob prying the shift pattern indicator out, whats the easiest way to put it back in as it's larger then the opening due to the ridge that locks it in place when its in

Most people take the knob off and replace it with something else. So as for how to fix that I'm not sure.

Tried to take my insert out the other day and was gouging it up so bad I quit. I was hoping the easy way would show up here. Once out I think I could beat it back in no problem.

I was the same way I attempted years ago to pry mine out but it looks like its was going to get ugly so I gave up.

I used to take a heat gun to the rubber to let it flex easier, obviously don't go to hot.  But I've since replaced it with a custom piece...

Is that a switch I see in there? What does it operate?

Sure is.  It's operates the exhaust brake.

I thought thats what it might be. I have seen a micro switch at Geno's IIRC. Have thought about doing it just too many other things keep getting in the way.

It's from a small air compressor of which I also stole the tank/pressure relief valves/regulators from for my OBA system.

Oh, I should probably mention, that is not the stock knob, I had to make my own.

Also found shift knob at Genosgarage.com It's 49 fits 98.5 to 04 trucks.
