A fresh new season for the Jayco. I'm hung up right now without a tow vehicle. But I've got most the inside cleaned up and mopped down and laundry is done. 

 

I'll warn you guys not to make my mistake which I was lucky twice now. 

 

Started the season but getting the water system purged out and thinking I need to fire up the water heater. So I closed my low point drains and put the plug back in the water heater. Hooked up the garden hose and started putting water to the system. Not even thinking but I thought it was rather fast to clear the air from the lines like that. So I proceeded to flip on both the propane and electric water heater. Figure walk back to the house give it 30 minutes to warm up so I can start cleaning. The sad truth I return back the burner turned off on the water heater.

 

Still had cold water. WHAT?! Look under the kitchen sink and sure enough, I forgot to flip the bypass valves. Without thinking again I flipped the valves and that water heater tank started to fill. Purged the air bubble out. Propane popped on instantly. Then I thought about the electric element. Did I just shock that and blow it out? So I flipped off the propane burner and figure heat on electric. So I hike back to the house. 30 minutes later I had hot water. I was shocked that Atwood 6 gallon water heater took a dry beating and still works fine. 

 

Just make sure your system is full and purged BEFORE flipping on the water heater. I was lucky but it could have caused a fire or done damage to the element.

Spring is here and spring maintenance is required. I took the time and pull all the brake drums and check brake pad wear and pack the bearings. This will be my last summer on these brakes. I'll be replacing the entire brake backing plate as a complete unit. I've already replace one about 2 years ago that come apart and tore the brake shoe loose and bent all the springs and hardware. The other 3 are getting rather thin on the brake shoes and the hardware is looking rather shot. Rusted springs and adjusters. I did get the bearing packed with fresh grease and reassembled the axle.
