Headlight upgrades

Recommended Posts

Hey guys sorry to bring this up again! I have searched and haven’t found answers to my questions! So I would like to upgrade my stock headlights. I have ruled out hids because of price and all. I think I would like to do the sport light upgrade. I need someone to post a link to lights they have bought and love!! I’m looking for smoked stockbstyle headlights but don’t have to have them. Now my question is if I do this swap is it completely plug and play? If inget a Geno,s Britebox is this goin to work well with this setup? Thanks guys!!

I found a sport wiring harness and britebox together at Genos has anyone used this ? Is it good quality? If I get that all I will need is housings and bulbs correct?

I don't have the link handy but check out DAP web site for thier 2nd gen  sport headlight conversion, about 180 bucks not including the harness upgrade. They are of decent quality and nice looking with a light tint finish.

As far as the wire harness relay kit that is a crap shoot, I wish I would have went with the bright box instead. My harness came wired totally wrong for my truck, thanks to moparman and IBmobile helped me with the correct wire diagram but what a PIA. You could also buy the parts yourself through a kit or just get them outright and build your own for about half the price.

This is the correct kit? I would like the britebox to. Is thier a benefit to getting the harness with relays?

Here is the link for the britebox harness

Don't bother with sport headlights. Britebox won't do much either. I've already done the sport headlights with relay mods and had all 4 bulbs burning. The path of light is still too narrow and not very bright. Halogen bulbs are big power consumers. Sad part is I ended up replacing the sport headlights in less than 1 year.

I highly suggest you just look toward the Morimoto HID's. I know the cost more but you'll be much much happier. Surprising how a 35w HID bulb is way brighter than four 60-watt halogen bulbs burning in sport headlights.

Extremely happy... My Morimoto are street legal. Very precise cutoff of light on low beams. High beams the path is huge I've got at least 50 feet into the ditch on the driverside on flat ground. There is a difference @Me78569@jlbayes and a few others did the H1 Mini Morimoto's. I'm doing the D2S Morimoto's which is a much bigger lens and seems to have more light.

Here is what I bought...

There is a difference. These are Morimoto not an Amazon PNP kit that most get...

These are illegal PNP lighting...

These are a joke... I've gotten that same comments about these just horrid lighting.

I built my own as I wanted a simple set with no frills. They are extremely easy to do as well as setup. On cf you were likely told no pnp lights, if they said no hids period shame on them. Also on the smoked lens deal....you want more light output, not reduced. The smoked lenses do just that. A clear lens is what you are after. Mikes lights were a complete drop in and go. Make the harness connections and that would be it. The components are not inexpensive, https://www.theretrofitsource.com is where I got the projectors. You can check cost there if you'd like.

So I have to buy a left hand kit and right hand kit? No. Or is the price for both sides? Yes. With my options I have 300 bucks

The kits refer to left or right hand drive iirc. You want a left hand kit.

Then the set I bought fully assembled. Instead of the smaller H1 Mini's like @Me78569 done I went up a full size to D2S Morimoto's which has bigger lens more light but still with the standard 35w 5k bulbs and ballast.

Is there still a large difference from my stock lights with the mini h1s? I have nothin against your kit I just would like to get something cheaper! Lol

this is the kit I’m thinking I’ll go with if you guys think it is an alright way to go?

I've asked you this before but I lost my phone with all the info I saved, could you specify exactly what you got, and do you have a picture of it at night looking ahead, I'm undecided about 4300 or 5000 bulbs. Thanks.

Edit,

Cancel that, I just found your article and my exact question you answered already. But still undecided on 43 VS 5k bulbs
