Overhead computer/power steering

Recommended Posts

Hello. First time using a forum. I cannot seem to get my overhead temp, direction, mpg screen working. I have already replaced the fuel sending unit. Also my power steering only woks on left turns. Any advice would be appreciated.

Check the fuses?

Most likely the power valve is damaged in the steering gearbox. There is a pin that holds the power valve but it most likely loose or broken.

I appreciate fast response. I did check the fuses, they were all healthy with proper power flow. As far as tyhe power valve in the steering gearbox, is it a very hard fix? Do you have any good YouTube link's pertaining you could share? Don't mind getting dirty on a day off, I just am happier when everything on the truck works properly.

I would contact http://www.bluetopsteeringgears.com/ and get a hold of them I'm sure they can set you up with the parts in the steering box. As for assembly and such I don't have a video but I've done plenty of them in the past from 70's Dodge and Ford trucks. They are not hard at all to do.

Ohh... There is an article here... I almost forgot...

My overhead was working intermittently so some guys on this forum told me that it's most likely the factory connector up inside where the wires come down from the headliner. So I removed the overhead, found the connector and sure enough it was only clicked in half way. I squeezed it together, got another click-lock out of it and everything has been fine since.

Don't know if this will help, but it sure was great to find simple fixes for everything that caused the PO to trade it in. I'm happy anyway.

Keep us posted on what you find and good luck on it.
