Help me adjust my headlights

Recommended Posts

I'm stumped...  I installed my new headlights a month or so ago and adjusted them accordingly.  But the more I raised the beam and pulled it inward the more the housing would become misaligned with the fender opening.  Hopefully the picture helps explain what I mean.

These are OEM replacements and unless there's something else going on which I cant visually identify, so I should be able to get them straight like the factory lights were.

Trying to figure this out, I remembered there's an adjustment on the top middle of the housing but.....its not accessible unless you remove the entire housing.  Seriously???  Who thought that one up?

Does anyone know what that non-accessible adjustment is for?  You can see it in the other picture...

My least expensive E-bay  headlights went in and lined up beautifully. I did that on my Sport model. Yours should line up with the upper brow on the fender body as soon as they are installed. Adjustments are only for headlight aim not the body line up.

IOW, they should look perfect soon as installed even if light aim is off.

I wonder if you got them for a sport model and you need non sport headlights or vise versa?

The set I have now one sits fine but the other I had to turn way in or live with lighting up the drainage on the passenger side.

I think @KATOOM is talking about the lack of adjustment screws if I am reading the post right, not so much the proper way to do it.

You say OEM replacements, but I did not think the OEM had clear lenses until 03???

I thought he was talking about how they don't line up with the fender brow above each new headlight.

Dripley, my 02 Sport came with clear lenses.

Just a side note...... my Sport model has the front bumper lower so there is more space to get the lights in with a tilting motion. I really appreciated that.

EXACTLY...!  I can adjust them to what I want but they dont sit correctly aligned in their hole.  The sit cocked at an angle after adjusted.  Given there are "3" adjustment options, I dont understand what role that inaccessible one plays in this.  Is it there to taunt or does it serve a purpose?

If I can ask anyone else who has sport headlights...  Can you take a picture of that top adjustment on yours and post it?  That would possibly help me understand if or where I need to adjust mine.  Thank you...!

Pm me with your cell no. and I will send one of my sport with E Bay headlights and one of my non sport.

It looks like I have more space between the fender and the lights. Yours look too close for some reason.

So after dicking around with the adjustments by pulling the lights, adjusting, putting them back...  I got bored and spent half of today swapping out the aftermarket housing frames for the OEM ones.  It pays to not throw things away.

Well the headlights are fitting more straight than before but I'm not sure how they'll shine.  Do I think the frames were messed up?...no, just that the three adjustments were too hard to replicate since the adjusters are not exactly the same as the OEM ones are.

I'll post back after I get the chance to drive at night.
