How does my turbo look?

Recommended Posts

No pictures here but after 458k miles mine still has no play in it. One thing that stuck with me after buying the truck and taking to one of the service techs was to let everything cooldown after a long pull or drive. Did not understand why at the time but it stuck in my head.

No current pics. But those turbo are dirty. Wow. I would pull the compressor housing and brake cleaner the entire thing. Need to wash that snail out.

I would also second this, and take a look on the inside of the down pipe. Make sure your not leaking oil, because your asking for a run away if that happens!

Yes I honestly don't remember it being that dirty last time I had it off. 5,000 miles ago. I could just be mistaken and just paid more attention this time. I had one clamp that was a little loose that connects to the bhaf. But idk what else besides maybe a oil leak that could cause it to look so dirty.

If you don't have a rigid sleeve inserted into the BHAF (something for the clamp to squeeze against), then BHAF clamp will always be loose because the clamp is compressing and deforming the material on the BHAF outlet.  Dirt will likely enter here.

I modified a short piece of exhaust pipe to just under 4 inches in diameter (and 7 inches long to reduce intake  noise) to slip inside the BHAF

Dripley calls it the "BHAF muffler".
