Fte muffler day

Recommended Posts

I screwed up and orderd the 17.5" 4 in 5 out. Oh well it's not straight through like the areo turbine si hopefully it reduced drone.

Snagged a pick. I cut the 5" slip fit end off the aero to use as a joint to make fte longer.

Along with a 5" 51" muffler that someday I'll find time to put on our kenworth.

I'm expecting no huge reduction from the little fte will most likely later ad a muffler behind it. Something smaller than the 51" Donaldson type muffler.

Reworking down pipe hanger to get exhaust off the frame so later I can fit a muffler.

So I took my grandpa for drive slow cruising gravel rds tonight. Truck is noticeably quieter but not enough.

Debating adding a second fte or get a muffler. 9" muffler body will be pretty tight against frame rail.

I'm pretty sure a second twister type muffler will knock it down more. That bring me to about 20"s worth of actual spiral instead of 10.

Not many vids on YouTube of 30" fte mufflers ti help me make my decision.

Think a longer straight through type muffler with 8" is body would reduce sound much placed right behind the 17.5 fte?

  • 2 weeks later...

Got my 2nd twister muffler. Actually the 4-5" is flop pro and the 5"6" is fte. Quality is a little lower on fte nit it has solid looking welds.

Truck is now much quieter with both resonators on. Maybe even a stockish sounding idle with a slight turbo whistle. It does seem to whistle more when on the throttle

I am very happy. No drone now and much quieter. But still enough good sound to be noticed. No ratty straight pipe sound or like how the straight through mufflers sound.

Everyone around it has commented asking if I put a different turbo on. :)

Finished very nice quite sound
