TC lock up with adreanaline

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a strange problem that I have noticed since installing my quadzilla.

Since installing my quad I have noticed my TC lock up is lazy and doesn't lock up really unless I'm climbing a grade and pushing the pedal a bit harder. Or I'm wide open in OD it will lock up..

Turn the quad off I get 'normal' lock up in 3rd and OD. Anyone else come into this issue before? Best way to over come?

Mystery switches are they worth it? I don't tow I just use this truck for fun it gets used a couple of times a week.

I have a bullet input, triple disc modified OD with more clutches etc (firepunk comp 2 rebuild kit without the billet intermediate shaft)

Looking forward to hearing if anyone else has noticed this issue I'm having

Cheers

I think computer is designed around locking a single disc parameters.

I'd be curious to see actual transmission pressures locked unlocked and during lock. With the quad and with out.

I'd assume it has higher pressure without quad

Does Tom change when it locks with and without quad ?

@Evan haven't taken any pressures yet haven't had time ? it locks perfect with the quad off. Lockup with or without the quad feels nice and firm. Just seems to lock up 'later' or sometimes with the quad turned up it locks up under very light throttle input. With the quad on it will lock just using more power or going uphill. I've not really seen anyone else with this problem. But I don't know how common using a lock up switch is. Nearly no rams here in the UK.

This is partial because the Quadzilla changes the amount of throttle given to hold road speed. Just changing your fuel map will change how the transmission see throttle. If your tune is heavy fuel then cruise state you're going to be lighter on the throttle so the TV cable is pulled less. Now if you have a very light fuel curve you're going to be deeper into the throttle and pulling the TV cable harder.

@Mopar1973Man makes perfect sense!

That tidbit comes from battling with @pepsi71ocean with his Smarty S-03 and how it affected the shifting of his transmission. Changing his Smarty tune changed the way the transmission shifted and behaved. Finding that the Quadzilla will do the same thing because of how you build your fuel and timing maps.

So how common are mystery switches is it a mod that pretty much everyone does??

You need to talk to @IBMobile he's got the awesome mystery switch setup that is sick and impossible to screw up. Impossible to leave the torque convert locked up and come to a stop being the brake pedal in his design will cancel the lock up.
