Yup. Check for error codes. Preferred method is with a live data tool and check the TPS value while you drive. If the TPS value maxes out or drops to zero it should set a code instantly. Then check for error codes.

If your going to replace the APPS use a Timbo's APPS. Totally mechanical APPS with ZERO electronics.

Any particular reason you dont think some of them are right?

From reading the codes I would start with the batteries, charging system and grounds. Low voltage to the system will create all kinds of crap. The two gentlemen above are better at electrical advise than I.

Yep these trucks need a fully clean electrical system. All bright, tight clean grounds and battery posts, but that is not all...... they need low AC voltage ripple levels. Otherwise it is a slow death to the PCU on the injection pump. Also the alternator grounds thru the mounting bracket, so the bracket and bolts need to be cleaned of rust and corrosion. Some of us have run a dedicated ground for the alternator housing ground.

Go to the articles section and read the articles pertaining to the electrical on the second gens. It will open your eyes on how to further bullet proof these trucks.

Dead pedal is not necessarily caused by a bad apps and you dont have any apps codes. You could clear the codes then drive the truck some and see what codes come back. You could also take a volt meter and check the battery voltage first thing before drive it. They should have about 125 to 12.6 volts if they are healthy. Then start the truck and check again to see what voltage your alternator is putting out. Should putting out around 14v if cold out a little less if its warm.

I have one as a spare under my back seat.

Me too..... It's a good one. How I know is my other truck had a dead spot start to show. I could feel it at slow speeds and could see it on the graph with the Snap On screen hooked up. So I bought another one for the 2001 and keep it in the shop for. Good price at $170.
