Want a little more power

Recommended Posts

Looking to get a little more power, probably all I need is a little more boost. Anyone know anything about Turbosmart wastegates? Another option was a boost fooler but heard mixed reviews as how much they actually do.  Also was looking at upgrading Turbo, Borg Warner makes a drop in K27 that it says has better low/mid range response. Not sure I want to upgrade to more performance electronics like Quadzilla or Edge. Any suggestions?

That is correct, I never got my 2 figured I'd order a spear.

Been running my custom 62/67/12 with plugged waste gate. I did look at k27 just for the fact it's a bit bigger than stock and my exhaust brake would bolt up to it. Ended up having one built for  $800 bigger and still fits my brake. If it wasn't for EB I would get s362 or something like that with 4" outlet. That with the quad and some 7x10 would be a good set up.

When you $800 bigger, you mean more than the $900 for the K27, my reason on it is my pacbrake also,

You're using an Edge EZ and RV275 like I have.  I'm  using an adjustable boost controller and have it turned up to 30PSI of boost.   I got out of China for $5.  Some other members ordered them but I think @Dieselfuture never got his.

I paid 800 total delivered to my door. Got it from https://north-american-turbo-systems-llc.myshopify.com/

I delt with Zach, been a few years now. So far it works good, they have different options on sizes. I told him I needed as close to s362 as possible and needed it to have a 5 bolt flange for down pipe that I can bolt my BD exhaust break to. You can send yours in as a core for 100 but I kept mine, it's worth more than 100 to me so it could have been 700. I had few minor issues I had to fix, like flange bolts were too short, I reused my old ones. Did tell Zach about it, he said it was a mistake on his part. Then had to clock the compressor housing and then had a boost leak, so I used a little rtv and it sealed right up. Zach said it's a common practice on some that won't seat all the way. Plus he said they only use holset parts nothing from china.

It may worth calling them, I didn't find them on line one of our old members knew the guy and gave me his number.

Just tell him word got around and he has few happy costumers and tell him what you want, I'm sure he can build it for you.

K27 is 60mm compressor, but it is shorter and smaller and moves LESS air than the s300G 57mm.  K27 is similar to 35/40 hybrid, and max 75-100HP injector with an adrenaline.

57mm s300GXE is an updated 57mm and flows 66lbs/minute and will support 450HP.

62mm sxe will support 525-550HP

HX35 modified can be quick spooling with 62mm or larger compressor,  Looks like the Dieselfuture above did nice work.  Remember that the  62mm is only part of the dimensions.  If you dont have a machine shop at your disposal then a new s300 sxe turbo is just about as expensive

Consider and Adrenaline, and a boost elbow or turngate/turnbuckle and raise boost to 30-32psi.

You do not need a new turbo with rv275 and an adrenaline.  HX35 is fine, hy35 might get a touch warmer.  You can mod your turbo for better turbine flow if you have a bench grinder.  Call for more help.

HX35 only wastegates the front 3 cylinders.

Take of hx35 and grind down the center divider a little and use a non divided turbo/manifold gasket, or drill a 5/8" or larger hole in the divider from the side exhausting cylinders 4-6 to cylinders 1-3.

Also port the wastegate port to 7/8" and you should be able to lower your back pressure by a good bit.

@IBMobile has that black vacuum hose on your boost controller been holding up? The stuff I first used looked just like that, and it split from the pressure. I had to replace it with silicone.

@kzimmer I changed that hose out for a silicon hose a week later. The picture above is the first one I came across to post here.

Haha well I'm glad you came to the same conclusion I did!

Remember increasing boost pressure will NOT increase power. Only increasing fuel will you increase power and boost both.

Was hoping you would give a few suggestions. Was looking a getting a boost fooler, that should help with increasing boost levels, shouldn't it?
