What other maintenance / lube changes do we need to do?

Recommended Posts

After seeing that submerged axle thread I got to thinking about what other maintenance items I need to address, axles included, which I don't do now. Please take a look at my current regimen and let me know what else I need to be doing to keep this truck on the road. 5K - Rotella 15W40, Fleetguard Oil filter, tire rotation10K - Fleetguard Fuel filter25K - BG Transmission Fluid Exchange - O'Reilly's ATF+4100K - BHAF changeI guess I need to do axles too but I don't know how or really anything about it - mileage, type of oil, etc. Thanks fellas!

5K (10K) - Rotella 15W40, Fleetguard Oil filter, tire rotation

10K (30K) - Fleetguard Fuel filter (AirDog 3 micron)

25K - BG Transmission Fluid Exchange - O'Reilly's ATF+4

100K - BHAF change

I guess I need to do axles too but I don't know how or really anything about it - mileage, type of oil, etc.

Thanks fellas!

Frantz Filter (5k) Axles (30k) 80w-90 Transfer Case (30k) ATF Power steering fluid (30k) (Not ATF) Coolant (30k) Brake fluid (30k) DOT3 Manual Trans (100k) Mopar Manual Transmission fluid But regardless of any schedlue you should do monthly inspections of all fluids and if any fluid is questionable dump it and reload regardless of the mileage and date. Because remember the engine (and auto trans) is the only device(s) with a filter system axles, power steering, brakes, coolant, transfer case, manual trans, etc don't have a filter to protect it from debris. :smart:

would be nice if some of them did, especially power steering. I think I heard someone makes a coolant filter. found one http://www.wixfilters.com/productinformation/gff_coolantfilters.html ford retro http://www.dieselwarden.net/ford/coolfilter1.html just found a kit http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=796 (not affiliated any way with the above site *at your own risk*)
