Who adds weight to the bed for more traction....and if so - about how much?? What is typically used for blocking the radiator to help the coolant system not get too chilled? How much is typically blocked?

I have my grill blocked with a rail road crossing sign that fell over magically and land in my truck. I cut it to the shape of the opening and drilled holes and i zip tie it to the grill. It works great and warms up ten time faster.

Why not bow the metal slightly and then drill your hole in the center. Using 1 bolt in each piece also 1 fender washer and a nyloc nut.

Definitely a trade off. You guys don't have some of our other "issues" we have here in in the Socialist Republic of Kalifornia. :-)But, the weather's nice and we get to go camping year round. I have four generations of family within 50 miles; can't talk the wife into leaving anyway. Stay safe, and warm!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As I stated in my last post, weve seen a 40+* temp swing in the last 36 hours. From 80 and sunny to rain, 40 mph wind and a high of 40. Was actually in the low 30s and POURING rain all last night. The cool temps dont bother me one bit but it sure makes it rough with the big temp swings. This is prime time for cold/flue season, too. With temps bouncing back and forth so erratically it catches people unprepared for the big weather changes and next thing ya know everyones passin the snivels around :pant:

Well since Sandy is ruining my plans this weekend to chase my electrical bug, I decided to at least go to Walmart and get some 2 cycle Supertech and throw it in the fuel tank for the first time. It was in the low 50's and raining and suprisingly when the truck warmed up, especially after the putting the oil in the tank, I had very smooth acceleration for the first time in a while. There was still a slight buck from time to time, but it was a very enjoyable ride for once. I was actually suprised at how thick the oil was as well, I had never used or seen 2 cycle until today and I was picturing it to be somewhat thick since it is oil after all, but putting it in the fuel tank I thought it would be much thinner. I actually stopped pouring and double checked that I had bought the right stuff lol.

I started running it 2 months ago and i did the same thing had to look at it to make sure it was the right stuff. Have you noticed any difference. I have noticed that i don't have the injector and pump rattle. I have 150 hp injectors and they have sounded like a midget with a hammers since the day a bought them and for the most part it gotten much better.

Actually yes, I just got back from another drive, and I do feel a slightly smoother tone to the idle and even while driving. I have a feeling that if I had someone else with me, they might be like "WHAT?" but I know from driving my truck long enough how it sounds lol. But also something that may have helped mine was (hopefully) fixing this electrical problem I was having. I won't go into detail but if your interested I'm about post in my thread about acceleration.

The first time I used 2 stroke the queting effect was imediately noticeable. My son a brother were standing there and they both thought I was out of my mind. "Quieter ?" they both replied. I am pretty sure they thought I was crazy, but it was very noticable to me.

Put on my winter fronts drove to Ontario, OR and it was 75*F out. I though for sure there would be a issue with EGT's or engine temp. Nope coolant hover at 190-195*F with Dripley's thermostat and EGT's where no different that typical. But I could hear the fan lock/unlock now and then. What was weird started out here at 38-40*F... :banghead:

I threw mine under the back seat before i took off for Cincinnatti just in case but really wasnt expecting to need them as I was pulling a trailer. Even at freeway speeds my temp never got up above 180 and by the time i would get to the bottom of a hill where i wasnt in the gas much it had dropped 4 or 5 degrees. I took the boys with me as they had no school for 2 days and we had to stop for a bathroom break about an hour and a half into the trip and i put one side on. She ran right at 190 after that but even then my temps were still dropping to the low to mid 180s on the downhills so I probably could have put both sides on. This was with temps in the low 40s.This morning i put the other side on ill be making another trip to New York over the weekend and its supposed to be colder i figure its safe to assume we wont be getting anymore warm weather :think:post-11861-138698193383_thumb.jpgpost-11861-138698193391_thumb.jpg

I got the truck ready towards the end of September. I use Elk season as my trigger. I really don't have to do much thou, reinstall the grid heater, swap tires, and put the chains in the tool box. I have already had the winter front on 2 times this year, but it's currently off.

I drove from Challis to Kuna with mine installed (under-hood kind) with all 4 flaps open on a 65° day. It runs normal temps on the flats, but IAT's are the most effected. The last trip from Challis to Kuna I pulled it, it was cooler but it wanted to whistle. Why do you change thermostats?

Around here; especially in Wisconsin, most guys just have their wives ride in the bed of their trucks, just for that reason!!! The P-whipped guys in Wisconsin give their wives rain suits..........most don't.
