How many riders are out there?

Havent really talked much about it on here but was just wondering how many of you are into trail riding? (dirt bikes, atv,s, side x sides, etc) I grew up on dirt bikes and quads. Had a handful of 125 2 strokes, but mostly 4 stroke bikes. I also had a 86 250r quad and a lt 250 quad racer. My wild days are over (have 2 kids to think about now) but I still get a thrill out of being on one. In 2005 I sold off my last sport bike and bought a new Honda Rincon 650. Its been an awesome machine. Its alot bigger than my old sport quads but not as big as alot of the monster utility quads theyve got out there today. Its like the best of both worlds for me. I can still push it if I wanna get aggressive and for the most part hang with a couple of my friends that still run the sport quads (luckily theyve all gotten a little less crazy too or Id never be able to run with them ) And I can use it to plow snow and do work around the house too. I got the little ones on them at an early age (5 yrs old) Started them out on an old Honda 70. My oldest is currently on a 90 and Im in the market for another one for my youngest. Every spring my friends and I make the trip to Hatfield Mccoy and spend several days down there riding. Here is where we are going the first weekend in May. The 2nd clip is at "coal hill" a play area about 10 miles back into the bush. Only one trail in and out (that I know of) and its rough going. The video does no justice at all for the sheer size of these hills. If youre on a 250 2 stroke or a 450 4 stroke and you gotta be "in it to win it" the whole way up, thats a pretty big hill They dont look like it, but the trees at the bottom are full grown trees.

I have had several 4 wheelers and dirtbikes. Currently have a 08 yamaha 450 but hardly ever ride it. Dont have anyone to ride with and im to old and fat now.

That was part of the reason I bought my Rincon (other than self preservation) As Ive gotten older more and more of my friends got into sport utility quads and my 450 sat in the corner 11 months out of the year. Truth be told, we probably have more fun now than we ever did in the past. Now we actually plan rides like the one in May where we ride all day and barbeque, drink beers and hang out by the fire at night. When we were younger it was all about going fast, which usually meant breaking stuff and getting hurt.

I have been riding bikes since I was 12 and got away from it now. I still have a Yamaha LT2 and sold the CT3. I use to ride a XT500 street bike, but I am always lugging a bunch of junk to and from work. I didn't ride it and sold that too. I put on alot miles on the LT2. It is fun a little bike. Want to fix it up so I can take it to Road America to ride around to different parts of the track to watch the races. I also have a 2000 Honda Foreman ES. That thing is a work horse. Bought it with a Moose plow, I am impressed with the plow. I have chains on all 4 tires and not much stops it. Also gets used out in the woods when cutting wood. I do a little trail riding up in northern WI, not as much as I like to. Did alot of riding on Dusty Trails and now stick with the Pembine trail system. Everyone is busy now a days and it is hard to get people together. I even still have the original battery in it. When I am not going to use it for a while I have a battery minder to put on it. It is not a fast 4 wheeler. But it always works. My friends have been through a couple of 4 wheelers(not Honda's) and have had problems with them. I have had to tow some of them back to truck with the Honda.

I go trail riding all the time on my 06' ktm 300 xcw. In the last 2 years I have probably put 500 miles on my bike. It's the funnest thing ever.

Started out on the YZinger, then moved to the RM60, then RM80, then (yes) RM100, onto the 125, then 250. (mostly under the Dallas South Suzuki banner)Did some trials riding and stuff, as well, with the likes of Bultaco 250, a Husqvarna 125, a Penton six-day 125, and various others.As for quads, I've only had a few.. quadsport, and quadracer. Did have a Honda Odessey FL250 and FL350R buggies back in the 80s, as well.three-wheelers were the hot stuff back in the day. I had a Honda 185-S, a ATC-250R 3 wheeler, a 200-S, and A kawasaki something er other..Then I moved into WERA and amateur super bike. '88 and '89 GSXR-750Rs were the asphalt weapons of choice.I stopped riding as much, after I broke my neck in 2003.

I grew up on dirt bikes as well, Learned to ride a 1976 Honda Trail 70 about a week after learning how to ride bicycle, Graduated up to a 1977 Honda 125 dirt Bike that is still running to this day. Then in high school we got a Honda TRX 300 4 wheeler, I have since hand numerous street bikes and snowmobiles and jet skis almost to many to remeber, but that all ended the day I bought a house and sold my last snowmobile and traded my last street bike for another 1998 Honda TRX 300 which I still have but only use for yard work pulling my full sized pickup box trailer around with.I don't do any trail riding but my wife and I head down to the Black Hills of South Dakota and rent snowmobiles once every couple years and ride the Black Hills trail system which is beautiful.Last time we were there we came accross a half dozen bull elk standing on the trail and they just stood there and looked at us for a minute before wandering off but then what we didn't see until they started moving was the other 50ish elk in the herd that were just off to our side, we were totally in awe and they wern't in the least concerned about us. We crossed paths several more times in the next couple miles of trails before loosing them.

Thats actually a pretty good amount of trail miles more than Ive put on in the last 2 years! W&F, neat story Ive come across wildlife a few times over the years and it truly is neat to watch them in their element.

I've only had 1 cast in my life which was the big wreck in 2003. Tore all my shoulder ligaments the past summer and was in a sling for a few days until the specialist said its actually better to move it around if it doesn't hurt. Went home, took the sling off, went back down and rode a 4 wheeler, killing myself over every bump. It was worth it Pain is just an illusion of the mind

Thanks, I have crossed paths with Moose and black bears in the north earstern part of ND in the lake Metigoshi area and Turtle Mountains while snowmobiling also.

I remember the days before the monoshock. I had a late 70s suzuki 185 2 stroke dual sport bike. It had a speedometer, lights, and turn signals and I rode that bike everywhere for 2 summers. Those atc 250r 3 wheelers were pretty wicked I had one for a short time until I destroyed the front forks. I ended up pulling the engine on it and putting it in a trx250r I had. I raced that quad locally. I also raced a CR125 I made it into the B class but that was as far as I ever made it. I used to ride alot with a fella named Trevor Vines. He grew up here locally and was one of the first guys who jumped onto the 450 thumpers in the local pro class. Everybody was baffled when he could smoke everybody in the 250 pro class. Trevor ended up moving to California where he raced pro for 2 years before jumping over to the freestyle scene where he did a ton of shoots for various magazines, competed in XGames 2 years in a row, and somehow managed to land a role as a stuntrider in the movie Charlies Angels Full Throttle. He ended up shattering his hip in a race and it ended his career and he moved back here and bought a huge chunk of property and put a mx track and a freestyle track in and puts on some really neat local events now.

I remember my sister and brother got a Trail 70 back in the EARLY 70s.. to me (I was about 5 or 6) it looked absolutely huge..

No "woman wood" for you, hey??!!! The first wood I procured last year about this time, I split into "woman wood" splits...........so I knew it'd be dry. Later wood procurements I split into larger pieces.

Most of the guys I work with are die hard Harley guys they rag on anything else. Then the production supervisor (lifetime Harley guy) traded his in for a brand new Goldwing. Said he got tired of workin on the Harley and the Goldwing was a much better ride so he made the switch. Everybody and I mean everybody ragged on him for it. Until the day they went to bike night together and he blew every one of them "Hogs" away The poking stopped after that.
