Sheriff Wheeler Sworn In For A Second Term January 14, 2013

This last Monday, before a small group of friends and family, I took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, the Idaho State Constitution and the laws of Idaho. Nowhere in my oath did I agree to uphold the arbitrary wishes of a President who strays outside his Constitutional authority. On January 16th, it was reported in the media that President Barack Obama signed 23 Executive Orders. This is not so. President Obama signed 23 “Executive Actions.” These so called “Executive Actions” are nothing more than 23 suggestions which do not have the force of law. This is nothing more than a Presidential Christmas “wish list” that he passed along to Congress for their approval.

Even though these “Executive Actions” do not constitute real law, the President has directed the Federal Agencies to carry them out. The Department of Justice, the A.T.F., the Centers for Disease Control, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the General Services Administration, the Department of Education and the Department of Homeland Security have all been tasked to carry out his wishes. He is also dove-tailing all his actions and attempting to restrict gun ownership by changing the rules within the Affordable Care Act.

So now that you know that, I urge you to push back by contacting your Idaho representatives on all levels, local, state and federal. Let’s not lose any ground. The law enforcers and the law makers need to be on the same page.

I believe that in order for the President to carry out his plans, he needs the approval of Congress. This is where you come in. I urge you to push back now by contacting your Idaho representatives on all levels, local, state and federal. The threat to your 2nd Amendment Rights will most likely come to your mailbox through a questionnaire in the mail, not a knock on your door. These regulations will most likely be tied to Federal dollars sent to you as an individual. Please contact this office immediately if you are threatened. I can't do anything if I don't know what is happening. Above all, keep your cool! I will come when you call. You can be assured my office will uphold and protect your 2nd Amendment rights.

Sheriff Daryl Wheeler

Hex you might want to join up with www.idahoopencarry.org . I've been helping Tony the owner get the site up and rolling. Also I've been open carry my pistol now for about 2-3 months now. Any time I leave home I take it with me now. I've been out spreading the word about 2nd amendment rights and trying to get more and more people involved with Tony's site.

I appreciate your efforts in educating others about the 2nd amendment and the importance of it. Although, open carry for me is an un-wise choice IMO as I feel it does atleast 2 things: 1. I no longer retain the, "element of surprise" with an evildoer and so I become the first target to be taken out. 2. I could be easily dis-armed if I so happen to let myself become unaware of my surroundings at a single opportune moment. I in no way 'am afraid to openly carry in ID. I used to do it all the time in Sandpoint. Until I changed my ideas about tactics. Sandpoint is sometimes entertaining when doing it too, as this being a high tourist destination, I used to get alot of reactions! I had at one time stopped at a seasonal vendor selling tye-dye clothing. Looking around, me and the owner got to talking. Lo and Behold, he did not mind, but the liberal walking around looking at the clothing did not like the fact I was carrying. She expressed her concern to me that because I was carrying a shoulder rig, the pistol faced horizontally and she did not like the barrel being at a level that could be lethalif it discharged. ...did not know they had a mind of their own?!

ND is wishy washy on open carry, I am comfy with it but a lot are not. To open carry in ND you must have a CCW permit anyhow and there is nobody that promotes it at all, law enforcement ccw instructors ect. Even though ND is a very pro gun state this is one subject that never gets touched. I personally have mixed feelings about it, around my own property and in the country I tend to open carry but around town I will conceal, but ND law makes it tough to conceal carry in town while shopping one can't wear in bars churches gaming facilities schools and public gatherings which is the one that leaves the law open and is vague. This is what they would like to clarify too in some bills. One of the Bills introduced in the ND legislature is to loosen some of the CCW restrictions to be able to carry in churches and public school events only with permission from church officials and local school administrations.Church leaders have testified in commitee meetings for it but school officials have been mixed to more so against it so it will be interesting how the vote will go.
