I think this is a hardware failure but not sure what...

Done a memory test and it passed. All hardware appears to be in normal range temps and volts. (Watching the Conky Panel)

I was hoping for Rogan to peer at the error codes and see what he thinks. I was weird been working all day then bam! General protection fault. Do you want to report this error that error. Continued for nearly 2 hours. I ran a memory test PASSED no issues. Rebooted and no issues for the final part of the evening. As for the code block its the same thing as Windows Blue Screen Of Death it just Linux puts in the Error Logs instead of forcing you to reboot like Windows. Linux just keeps going. I did try rebooting just for fun but that didn't resolve it either. The reason I tend to lean on a hardware issue this motherboard is over 5 years old and seen many many of hours switch on under Windows Vista x64 now with Ubuntu x64 it only see a short span of on time then put back to sleep (S3 mode - When the machine appears to be OFF but the power supply is holding the RAM on-line so all it got to do is turn ON.) Huge power saving for my place.

I did'nt think you had that one aimed at me, just could not resist responding. Where's Rogan when you need him.

Strange there isn't a lick of problem today only the initial wake up from sleep mode it beeped long and deeper pitched and did nothing after the power came on. Just a black screen no hard drive activity. But it been working fine all day.

It could be a true hardware issue (CPU1). Also, check for a latest kernel update. Ubuntu 13.10 is scheduled for release on 17 OCT 13, as an FYI. If 2.6 (Ubuntu 10) linux-image is not available for you, you can add the lucid repository to /etc/apt/sources.list.d, do "apt-get update", and "aptitude versions linux-image" and install 2.6 kernel. It's possible there may be something up with the (assuming your on) 12.04 LTS kernel. Have you ran this:

uname -a
Should output something roughly like this:
Linux LNX-SVR3 2.6.18-348.16.1.el5 #1 SMP Sat Jul 27 01:05:23 EDT 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Yours should be something like 3.5.x.x

Strange. Never had a problem again. I went back through an un-install softwares I'm not using or didn't want and the problem literally disappeared. I've not seen another Kernel Opps since that day. So I can't say for sure the was something software wise not playing well, or was there a actual hardware issues, or possibly a hacker attempting to enter forcibly? (Shootin' from the hip).
