  1. Hey guys, just chiming in on this topic. I went back to the Cummins T-stat and temps are a lot more stable. I contacted cummins gave them my engine code and they got me the exact t stat that the engine needed. The results are noticably different in temp levels, even compared to a premium 190* t stat the cummins t-stat holds temps more consistantly.
  2. Glad to hear that the FCA did the trick, congrats!
  3. True, there are some variations with the HO and the 04.5 and newer models as well I think. Is there also different programming on the APPS from auto to manual ? He mentioned his clutch in the post so that's a variable I never had to deal with. I know it's in a different place but not sure if anything else changes.
  4. Looks exactly like my dash, guessing 03-05 ...
  5. Best troubleshooting would be if you have a buddy with a good FCA to swap out before buying a new one.
  6. I missed the video clip the 1st time I read the post. My truck was doing the same thing and it gradually became unbearable when it started idling like yours in the clip. Unfortunately that I know of there is no DTC code for FCA or COV if you are not able to narrow things down I would advise to swap out the FCA and see how it reacts I got mine from geno's for a little over $100 but it resolved an issue that was progressively getting worse throughout a 2 year period. If you can, check my post to see if it sounds familiar. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/index.php?/topic/9835-cov-cascade-overflow-valve-removal/?p=112712#entry112712
  7. Found 2 more clips Hope this helps.
  8. Just came across this sound clip of my idle issues. The Clip is from when the issue started when it wasnt as bad. The truck is in park at idle when the idle issue was the least noticeable but still noticeable. Listen for pulsing in diesel rattle.
  9. I had idle issues not too long ago and it came down to 3 culprits. APPS, COV and FCA I tested my old APPS and it was malfunctioning so I swapped it out for a timbo unit and that resolved the non responsive fuel pedal but I still had rough idle. I then swapped FCA and COV and that nailed it. PM me if you would like more info.
  10. Also oem responds more acurately to the temp fluctuations you stated above.
  11. In addition to what you mentioned above I did a little more reading and 190* OEM is the way to go. What sold me was that the warmer temps are better for proper lubrication and oem t-stat fails open as where some aftermarket fail closed. Would anyone happen to know who is the manufacturer for cummins oem t stat?
  12. I will give a try over the summer and see how it feels, even with the 190* t stat I had before I would rarely see 210*+ unless I was at idle for a while. Its pretty easy to swap out and they are about $20-30. Also I have always noticed that when I am runing the AC no matter what the scenario coolant temp drops to 188* and doesnt pass 196* and that was with the old 190* t stat. does the Cummins t-stat have a higher temp setting or is it 190* as well ?
  13. Thanks for the info It helped a lot. Next time your down in my area hit me up, I owe you a beer
  14. I made it to the end of the job and replaced the radiator yesterday with a napa/spectra radiator w/lifetime warranty less than the dealer with better warranty, can't go wrong. I also changed the t-stat while there to the 180* option for the warmer weather down here in FL. I also found out that the radiator that started leaking was a very low quality radiator the core was actually thinner that the spectra replacement. I'll post pics soon for refrence.
  15. Just got home, I stopped on the way home to look at yhe leak closely and it is tiny I also kept an eye on coolant temp and never reached dangerous temps. I have 3 days left on the job I think I'm going to see if it makes it till sat then I can stop the truck and figure out a new radiator. I appreciate all the input, it seems like all the ways mentioned may be functional for the situation but I have always cringed when thinking of pouring any kind of "sealant" into any of the fluids on a car or truck. I'm going to look into that cryomax because the rock auto option only offers 24mo warranty.
  16. Thus is more along the lines of what I was thinking, I didn't want to make more work for myself later, thanks. By the way the leak is very small it's actually just misting at the moment not even a stream. Are those tabs only available at dealers ?
  17. Sorry been having issues with my signature but I'm in a 04 2500 qcsb 5.9 4x4, I checked rock auto yesterday and notice the apdi pro one seems to be a nice unit but didn't know if it was actually worth the extra $$ compared to the other 2 options they carry and if it's actually a direct fit. I'm off to work I'll try to check in thug out the day thanks again guys.
  18. Coarse ground black pepper !? Never heard about that one. I'll be taking a box of pepper and a couple gallons of distilled water until I get time to get to the alumiseal. Any recommendations on a good radiator ? By the way thank you for the quick replies and help !!
  19. Hello to all, today I noticed a small puddle of coolant under the truck and when I opened the hood I found a pinhole in the core of the radiator. I am in the middle of a 6 day job and don't have much time between sleep and work for research. Does anyone know of any good quality & fitment radiator manufacturers ? Unfortunately i can not afford oem at the moment so I am looking for the best alternate option, thank you.
  20. Got my Smarty Touch!! now how do I work this thing
  21. Also forgot to mention that I asked the Dynatrac rep in regards to their warranty and he stated that it's a 1yr warranty but if there are any defects outside of the warranty period that they should be able to work something out. After that I asked how much did their rebuild kit cost, he stated $50. I then replied "with the $100 im saving I can rebuild them twice if necessary" he then made it clear that their least selling product is the rebuild kits simply because they rarely need to be rebuilt...
  22. Looked into it and since Dynatrac is out of CA. I was able to contact Dynatrac and was able to order the upper set only for $100 less than the Carli
  23. sweet deal !! that allowes me to get the pyro probe too paypal should be releasing my funds tomorrow so ill try to make the purchase tomorrow, I'll keep you posted.
  24. Well my lower ball joints are still good so for now I was just going to replace the uppers but I couldnt find an upper ball joint only option available for the Dynatracs only the complete set (upper and lower) I also like the sound of Carli's no questions asked life of the vehicle warranty against any defects on their ball joints.
  25. I don't see any specials listed on the MADSelectronics.com web site ($965.00) is the special through a specific retailer or is $965 the sale price?
