Just got Draw Straw 5 from Vulcan to help with 1/4 tank sucking air problem. I got an upgraded in tank fuel pump module. This kit replaces in tank pump with clip in aluminum fitting and flex hose to top of sending unit. Then it says to replenish fuel back to module I need to use factory outlet (that's not used anyway) as return a quick connect that is 3/8 and new fitting is 3/8 to 1/2 barb. Before I did this my return was going to filler neck. So now that I got it all plumed according to instructions my fuel pressure went up to 22 where before it was 19. The only thing I can think of is restriction in return going from air dog to module, the actual hole in module is just over 1/4 where before it was just dumping it in filler neck with no restriction. Anybody had this problem ? and what did you ended up doing? If I return fuel to filler neck it will defeat the purpose of doing this kit, as Air Dog will suck module dry. While doing this I found return line from vp and injectors kinked off, just 8" down from quick connect on module. It was bent to about 45 degree angle. previous owner must off took fuel tank out to put in draw straw that came with air dog and when putting tank in pinched off return line. So I don't think there was much fuel if any returning for a while now. What problems would this cause? Any opinion is appreciated. Also does anybody upsize return lines and fittings from vp and injectors?

I stopped in for visitation with my truck & the mechanic took me in the back & showed me the progress to date. I liked the look of the pickup tube he fabbed & installed in the tank filter basket. I left very happy. Then I was reading on CDF... and I saw a thread asking "Why the a through the basket pickup could NOT be used with a fill pipe return Y?" I hadn't thought much about it, but this is exactly as my install was shaping up. The answer sent me scurrying to the Diesel shop this morning. You can run a pickup outside the filter basket & return through the fill hose. Or You can pickup IN the filter basket & return IN the filter basket. But the basket itself is designed for the OEM pump capacity. Once the tank level falls below the top of the filter basket... drawing 150 GPH out of the filter basket, the strainer will not keep up, the basket can be pumped down so it draws air! Essencially Out of Fuel at what, 1/4 tank? Now I have heard of mis-measured pickup tubes... I had not heard of this before last night. This IS a mistake... I would not have thought twice about this. I don't know how far they got after I left yesterday. I hope I got to them before the tank went back in.AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Does anyone know where someone could find the gromment for the fuel tank where the plumbing (suction/ return) lines go into tank? Mine was in bad shape and need to replace soon. Went to Dodge and said they cannot get it because the have supercided it so many times:banghead:. They wanted to know if i had the number that is on the gromment and they could search but it is torn there. Anyone have there tank exposed so they can see the number? Or have a location on where to get one? Any help would be greatful.

I'm planning to add an XZT+ before towing season. I really need to upgrade the lift pump before I get into towing again. So I'm weighing the options vs cost. I'd like to do this once... I'm not going racing but need to tow properly... can never be sure what that'll take until I've done it. Airdog vs Raptor?Should I go for the draw straw & big line?Russ

1999 2500, 4X4 auto stock... 147K, inherit from Step Dad. Truck sat for about 4 yrs, monthly starting. steel lines from the top of level sending unit is leaking fuel badly. (i.e. painting line paint in the street bad). I'm wanting to order and put in Drawstraw I from Vulcan. From what I "can" see it def the steel line. Wil the Vulcan handle the fix? Also the $50 question, drop a half tank of fuel or pull the bed...and where are your vids on either choice? Thanxs..
