  1. First post here for me. My name is Duane and I just finished doing this conversion on my 1996 Dodge Ram. i wanted to elaborate further on why this conversion is so much better than just that there are 4 bulbs. A stock 9004 low beam bulb puts out 45 watts and 700 lumens of light. The sport headlight low beam 9007 puts out 55 watts and I believe 1000 lumens of light. That in itself is a significant difference in light output on low beam. On high Beam is even better. On the sport headlight on high beam we have two bulbs on at once. We have a 9004 high filament of 65 watts and a 9007 high filament of 60 watts. While these are both turned on the low beams turn off on a stock truck. There is a product available called a bright box that leVes the low beams on with the highs. But if doing the conversion yourself with relays on a negative switching system as mentioned, you have already done most of the work to modify the system to function like the bright box. Just run a jumper diode of sufficient size from the low beam relay to the high beam relay negative connections. It has to be a diode to prevent back feeding the other relay. This will allow the low beams to stay on with the high beams for a total of 3,350 lumens of light on high beam. Watch for oncoming traffic and be courteous please.
