  1. @trreed after some searching holeset indeed made a 62mm hx40. Even though there are other turbos that spool better and flow more, this turbo is very drivable at 45psi and will spool up around 1700rpms so I would probably use it on my compound kit. Just need to get a atmospheric turbo and the piping. Anyone know where you can get piping, hot and cold? Also for the atmospheric charger what would y’all recommend? Still a 72? What about turbine size and compressor housing size? Also A.R? @Bullet @Me78569
  2. @Bullet where did you get the piping for your compound setup? And do you think the hx40 would be decent as a low pressure turbo? I may be mistaken but I’m almost positive my compressor wheel is a 62mm.
  3. What would you recommend? And how so? I know a guy personally with a SO pump and the same 7x0.012 injectors that runs a single hx55 making 70-80psi of boost.
  4. @Me78569 yes this is true. It’s very easy to drive right now however so I can’t see another 150hp making it impossible to drive. I can turn it down and drive like a stock truck at this power level. But, would an hx40 make a decent low pressure turbo in a compound setup?
  5. Hi all. I am currently in the process of upgrading from the supposedly unsafe and shaft snapping hx40 to a larger charger. It is currently set at 45psi and I’m making somewhere in the 420-470hp range. I want to be around 600+. I have found a guy with a bunch of turbos that is going to build one for me to whatever specs I desire. So I am trying to figure out the single best turbo specs for my exact modifications to get me around that hp mark and still be somewhat driveable. All my previous mods should be listed below. Thanks for your responses.
  6. @Me78569 I love the feel of a big single but daily driving can be difficult. I have a buddy with an 850hp common rail with compounds. It has pretty immediate power but it’s super quiet and not that jolt of power that I like. I don’t know exactly what I’ll do yet but as far as singles what would get me around that HP number?
  7. @Me78569 Thanks for the reply and I have a tranny, 7x0.012 injectors, 4inch exhaust, new VP44, intake, turbo, Quadzilla adrenaline, PDD mechanical lift pump and yeah that’s about it. I tow a skid steer and a fifth-wheel occasionally but not too often. Not enough I’d consider it a deciding factor at least.
  8. Hey y’all, I’m looking into upgrading my charger after I get my head studs and valve springs done in the near future. With the fuel I have right now I don’t think I will need any larger injectors to get in the mid to upper 500’s. So my only question is what are y’all running as far as chargers go from 5-600hp on VP44 trucks? I’m making upwards of 450 right now with a 61.5 HX40 so I’m thinking a 64/71/14 or something along those lines would work good. But I also daily drive it and want somewhat drivability with a big single. Thanks.
  9. @Me78569 so power will still be flowing into the transmission through wires 1 and 2 even when the switch is on correct? The only difference is there will be a jumper wire with an inline switch to cut the connection on and off for the jumper?
  10. @Me78569 I have already read through that post. I will admit wiring is not my thing so there is a bit of confusion. They talked about 2 different ways. 1) being working it to the pcm connector and to a ground and 2) being a jumper from wire to wire on the harness on the transmission switch. So I am confused which to do and also the exact process of what needs to be tapped and where. Thanks. Sorry for my ignorance ?
  11. I have read a previous post about the torque management system on these trucks. It seems that you can put a switch on the Park/ reverse switch on the transmission and connect two wires to be able to cut it on and off. I have my truck built to race but my only problem is it won’t launch or build anymore than 10psi of boost off the launch. So my question is did anyone ever try this or successfully put in a switch? I’m curious if you have to cut the power completely to the transmission going through those 2 wires or if you just need to put in a jumper. Thanks.
