Charging problem

Recommended Posts

2001 Dodge 2500 Cummins, automatic, 4X4. Stalked this forum for awhile. Had the dreaded transmission lock, unlock problem. Burnt up trans so put in a reman. Rerouted the grounds per mopar1973man instructions. KIMG0095.JPG.58932c3266ca58a9468198f9986f8a33.JPGI knew it could be done but needed pics. Many thanks. Fixed that issue..   Charging system decided to work intermittent so double checked all wiring. No issues. Also installed 2 new batteries.KIMG0099_01.JPG.3211d79441042b92e4003c8f55a30ad9.JPG Decided it was PCM so installed an external voltage regulator cutting out the PCM in that circuit. (Hate the way Dodge decided to route the alternator and the TCM together.)  No charge.  Changed the fuses for the alternator. Bench tested the alternator and it showed good but got it warrantied anyways.  New unit also tested good.  Still no charge.  Jumper from battery to field and it does charge....  Haven't switched out the regulator yet. Do you still need something going to the PCM? KIMG0110.JPG.a309aead6625b701d3e7a2fde9a96a24.JPGNEED HELP.  Thanks in advance.
