James T 1 Posted December 26, 2021 Hello, I'm James, A&P mechanic Retired, I can fix anything. Enough tools to fix everything. This my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Cummins, my Father left it to me to take care of after his passing. Over the past years I have not done much to it. Reciently I have had to make it my daily driver. I started an up date and restoation to the truck. Started with replacing a leaking heater core, I have serviced the AC system more time than enoug so I dicided to replace the entire AC system while I had the heater box out. The dash was cracked so bad that it was total unuseable, like all Dodges, but had a cover on it. The exhaust manifold had a crack. The lift pump was not working and had messed up the vp44 injector pump. So the restor / rebuild has begun, heres what I have done so far. AC system replaced, complete Heater core replaced, complete Replaced dash with LMC truck new dash Exhaust manifold replaced w/3 piece w/egt port Lift pump replaced with fass pump Injector pump replaced New injectors +75 hp, not sure of the size .0xx and connector tubes New Injector lines, the old ones were coroded beyond serviceability Quadzilla Adrinaline W/Iquad w/Fuel pressure sending unit so that i could have a gage for fuel pressure I am still running on the default Quadzilla tune and have not yet started to experiment with the tunes. To many questions that I dont know to ask as well as to many answers that I dont understand. I need a daily driver tune, a tune for gas milage, a tow tune, and a "Go Baby Go" tune to start with as I learn more I could play with the tunes I am also looking for expert advice on the replacement of the torque converter and transmission to complete the restoration oh yea i gota paint the hood. Thats my story so far and am looking for help and knowledge to finish the restore all info is welcome Thanks for allowing me to be part of your group Quote Link to comment
