I have a friend with an '06 that has lost power and started running rough. He has a CEL on, and has codes P2149 (bank 2 (cylinders 4-6) shorted high or low) and P0205 (injector no, 5 control circuit).Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

P2149 comes up with the injector solenoid sticking open. Check the wires and nuts. P0205 seems to be a short or clogged injector. Sounds like injector 5 is having issues.

Hey, thanks Dave! I am the on with the truck that is sick....I am a newbie to diesels, so you have to talk slow!! What do I need to do to check this injector wiring?

If I am correct, 3rd gens have sensitive injectors that clog easily. I am betting that is the case. http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/3rdgen/injectors/injectors.htm Let someone else chime in before you do anything. Could be something simple that I don't know about since I don't have a 3rd gen.. If it's still under warranty, I would definitely take it to the dealer so they cover the cost of the injector.

Machineman (Bob) Download the factory service manual here http://forum.mopar1973man.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=44 and start reading from page 14-148. Those are the wiring connections they are saying to check.

thanks, Dave.....I will be ready this shortly.

Got a call from the shop this morning. Unfortunately, the CEL was gone and it ran fine. They don't do alot of work on diesels so the mechanic called the nearest dealership and talked to the diesel mech there. He said it could be the wiring that is causing the issue. I am going to attemp to take the valve cover off and inspect the wiring to see if there are any issues. I will also attempt to ohm check each injector. Looks like more work for me!!!

Looks like you will be a diesel specialist in no time. I would bet if the problem self corrected that it is in the wiring connections somewhere. Make sure all of the connections are tight and clean. Best of luck to you.

lol...thanks, Dave! I am going to start with the connections then move on to removing the vavle cover if I don't find anything with the external wiring. More to come, I am sure.

Just to update...drove the truck around town last night and drove to work this morning and no issues. That leads me to believe this is an electrical issue. I will look into it when I have a bit more time. Thanks to everyone for their help.
