Hi, I'm new here, I found this fine site over at Cummins forum, I have a 2004 slt 4x4 qclb 305hp w/ auto, my question, is there something that locks out the column shifter when it's cold out and truck is not fully warmed up? I started mine twice in the last week and only let it warm up a minute and when I went to shift into drive while stepping on the brake it would not budge,(temp was -20*)I repeated the step on brake and shift same thing, third try, I really stood on the brake pedal and it finally shifted, same thing happened yesterday, this is my first winter with this truck and I've only had it a couple months so I am still learning about diesel trucks, is there a sensor like the brake light switch on the brake pedal?

My 06 responds with slight pressure on the brake pedal. Lowest temp I've had it in was zero degrees. So i'm not exactly sure if there is a pressure switch or what, but recommend going to the download page and if you can, download the 2004 shop manual there for a starter. Hopefully some one else will chime in soon. Good luck.
