  4. I am removing a 460 ford in my motorhome and also installing a 5.9 12 valve in a 1960 Divco milktruck both of them are getting the 5.9 One has a 5 speed and the other has a 47re behind it I am asking what is the best transmission to use that does not need a computer. Thanks
  5. Ok My trans went out in a 99 2wd, i purchased a used one and installed it ( 47RE ).Problem on new (used )tranny was It would take of in 2nd or 3rd gear and then over heat. The problem was that 99 and down have diferrent solenoids and wiring harness than the 2000-2002 they operate on diferrent OHMS so robert before selling me any parts intructed me on how to remove the solenoids and body and also how to remove the parts that hold the harness in and that are attached to the VB. took old parts from original tranny and installed them in the 2002 trans and in less than an hr I was back on the road. hope this helps. made me more confident on maybe trying to rebuild my old one parts are pretty cheap and Robert told me I can do it the most expensive part is the TQ unless you performance.
  6. I am not advertising but I had problems with my 47re in a 99 and did not have the money to rebuild after all the help from the guys here on this forum I found a man Robert from CASCADE TRANSMISSIONS from oregon I am in Texas and he walked me through it no problem and he sells parts and has plenty of videos on you tube if you need help contact him
  7. For all you guys that had input on helping me I thank you. I found the problem with the used trans 2000 will not work on a 99 i swapped the wiring harness and the two valves that the harness is connected to and it is driving just fine. the solenoids on these 47re work on diferrent ohms and even though the 47re are excactly the same the wiring and harness inside the tranny is diferrent... I just want to say Thanks to Robert from CASCADE TRANSMISSIONS IN OREGON he talked to me explained it to me and has many videos on you tube about dodge trannys.. anyway once he explained it, It took less than an hour to swap it all and get on the road . Thank you mopar man
  8. since I do not know what year it is and do not know anything about this 47re do you think its something I can take out and bring to a shop to check? where is the solenoid? .I build complete engines sbc and HD's but just never messed w/ auto trans before and this is not just an ordanary unit. will a trans shop even look at it for me?the VB that is.I asked a local trans shop what you suggested and they said it would take them 4-5 hrs to change a VB, is this right? Thanks I need all the hellp I can get right now
  9. yes you did but I had no choice or 3,000.00plus dollars, so I had to too and if I change VB and it does not work I do not have a truck till I can get the money or parts.
  10. should I take the parts you mentioned out of old trans and install in new one?
  11. cannot get a hold of the guy I purchased from left messages no reply so I am on my own..when light came on the lines were hot but my cooler up front was not so I thought maybe clogged . I took apart and flush again started truck let run without driving it and cooler was hot the same as lines . can I use the parts you mensioned out of the old one? if you read all my post are they still good?
  12. do not know the year .Is there a way to tell by numbers on tranny? or should I take my old VB out and install it? would this make it run hot and start in 2nd gear?
  13. well insatalled the used trans and put new filter and flushed fluid blew out oil coolers(2) and truck did not stall and seemed sluggish but I have been driving different vehicles the past few days well it seems to be taking off in 2nd or third gear but if I put it in 1st and manuelly shift it it is fine well drove for about 20 miles stop and go and the trans temp light came on ( never has before ) and OD off light came on truck started acting up ishifted the truck and stomped on it and the lights went out for about 2 miles then the light came back on but truck ran fine as long as i did not stop if I did I had to manualy shift ...any Ideas I am 750.00 in the hole so far - - - Updated - - - well insatalled the used trans and put new filter and flushed fluid blew out oil coolers(2) and truck did not stall and seemed sluggish but I have been driving different vehicles the past few days well it seems to be taking off in 2nd or third gear but if I put it in 1st and manuelly shift it it is fine well drove for about 20 miles stop and go and the trans temp light came on ( never has before ) and OD off light came on truck started acting up ishifted the truck and stomped on it and the lights went out for about 2 miles then the light came back on but truck ran fine as long as i did not stop if I did I had to manualy shift ...any Ideas I am 750.00 in the hole so far
