Engine oil in coolant and coolant in engine oil
M73M, What mileage intervals would you recommend for the oil changes in a rebuilt engine? Do you drain your coolant system after the Tide application, or again, at what mileage interval? Thank you for the help. S. Shimritz

Engine oil in coolant and coolant in engine oil
Thank you very much for the outstanding information. I will take this info to my mechanic as I don't do too much work on my rig. My towing consists of a dump trailer at 5500# empty, various equipment trailers and box trailers full of tools, and a lightweight camper when time allows. My inclination is to get it rebuilt as I need this truck daily and rely on its dependability and don't have time or another truck to jack around with down time. Other information I have received has said oil in coolant is almost impossible to get rid of without the acid bath and overheating issues are always with you. I live in the mountains of CO and anytime I leave town I have to cross a high mountain pass or two. Again, thank you for the great input.

Engine oil in coolant and coolant in engine oil
I noticed an oil leak that came from coolant overflow tank, mechanic says oil cooler ruptured and both systems are contaminated and I have "sludge" in both systems. How did my engine get torpedoed by a non maintenance part, I don't understand???!! Planning on getting my engine rebuilt and would appreciate any input on modifications for a VP 44/NV5600 truck engine rebuild. I'm adding Hamilton cam, harmonic balancer, Cold Case radiator, BHAF, FASS 165 heated, fire ring head, custom injectors Anyone used a DPS Turbonator VGT (s300 & s400)?? Seem very cool, but a king's ransom. Have: Intake manifold plate PDI exhaust manifold 3 piece Pusher Mega Phatshaft 62 5" exhaust Blue Chip Best 17X Quadzilla (new) Valair DD clutch (new) Upgraded steering and front end ARP head studs Generally well maintained Any input for a build for a daily driver work truck, towing rig, and occasional road tripper kind of truck would be appreciated. Thanks.

White smoke, low power when starting
Does it make any difference between V2 and V2 4K? both are version 2.7 Thanks! @Mopar1973Man I would purchase an economy/egt tune dialed into my rig when you have the opportunity. Thanks

Thank you folks! I will read through this and maybe purchase one of the tunes Loren listed as $20 seems pretty reasonable versus $100 from Quadzilla. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for the input. I'll YouTube waste gate actuation and check that out. Quadzilla and MAP sensor cleared up white smoke and rough running. Not impressed with Quadzilla power delivery, it has nowhere near the power of the Blue Chip FMS/Bully Dog stack. Stock tune is laggy and smokier than I would like and it fuels flat until about 2700 rpm's, then fuels hard and it's time to shift. The tow tune from Quadzilla is better with smoke, but uninspiring to drive and it stops fueling at about 2600-2800 RPM's. I'm looking into a shop in Fort Collins, CO to help me tune it for my truck. What in the heck am I missing? Let me know if there are links on the site that I am missing. Thank you!

Update. Thanks for all of the input. MAP sensor seems to have fixed most issues, but I have not put many miles on it or towed. Quadzilla is a bit of a letdown after removing Blue Chip FMS and Bully Dog stack, but again few miles have been driven and no towing. I assume I will need to work on some tuning and figure the thing out. I got a tow tune from Quadzilla and need to download it into the device. Code scan was P0234 MAP sensor too high and P0217 Reduced engine performance from overheat (33 starts ago)

Thanks G W I'll get codes today, I replace filters at least once a year after 8-10K, new batteries and buffed and coated connections. I will read in on the WT mod. I appreciate all of the input from everyone. Fantastic! Thanks!

Probably closer to 31" my measuring technique is fairly primitive. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

LorenS, thanks for the input. I'll look into a data logger. White smoke and low power are becoming more consistent but generally vanish after 2-3 minutes of easy low acceleration driving. My tires are 30-1/2" tall Thank you for the very helpful response.

Got it, very well explained. Thanks. I will try smaller/shorter tires next cycle. I max out at <19 mpg on interstate driving, but that is at 75-80 mph and I have a heavy foot. I have never seen above 20 mpg in the life of my 250K vehicle! Can you point me to some of the forum threads that I can look at various mpg "formulas" for modifications. Great stuff. Thanks. Thanks Silverwolf. 125s were great except the black smoke was awful unless you kept electronics down and off and were easy on the fuel at every start from stop. Smoke better now and hoping Quad clears me up. My power is good, egts thru the roof all the time.....700 driving around town easy. I have the 12cm housing. My rig is work and tow, with occasional camping duty. I've been talking to Diesel Power Source about compounds and Turbonator and have been impressed with their knowledge. Thank you.

I'm happy to hear about the Quadzilla, it hurt a bit to buy it since I already own two chips/programmers! I have 3.53 axle and 265 70 17 Michelin and Nokian tires Could you please explain bad final ratio? I feel I have had a consistent EGT problem since adding modifications and have been looking for my weak link. Dropping injector size from a CPP 125 has helped without reducing power and I hope the Quad will keep me moving in the right direction. I live at 6800' so I know I am a bit air starved, but would like to avoid going to compounds as I tow a 5000# empty dump trailer regularly. I appreciate the input.
