  1. So my gal has a bad leak coming from the power steering pump. Trying to figure out if the seals are available seperately or will I have to purchase the entire thing? And is there a diagram or schematic available some where online that will help us determine which parts we'll need if we can buy seperately? Thanks!
  2. Hubby is not very mechanically inclined and currently working too many days & hours to even attempt working on my truck so looks like I'll have to put it into the shop some where. Been pampering this thing for over a year, knowing it was getting worse and I am NOT going to get stranded out some where pulling my horse trailer.... SOOOooooo, any suggestions on how to locate a good shop and what kind of cost should I be expecting? I dont really want to try 'piece' it back together and have this happen again later as I'll have to take off work while it's in the shop since I dont have a back up vehicle to use to get around.2001 Dodge 3500 quad cab with 245,000 miles and 6 speed..... I dont ever plan on replacing her but time to get this taken care of. Wouldn't get into gear last weekend with trailer on her and then again this morning while driving to work. Get to the office to park and she wants to vibrate forward even tho the clutch was all the way in.
  3. Too much New Year celebration?? Ok really, what a way to start the first Monday in 2010! Now I need some feedback. Here's what happened...Weather temps dropping this week so I moved my 2001 Dodge 3500 diesel close to the garage so I could plug in the heater last night. My truck has always had some power steering issues since day 1 (bought it used in '01 with less than 5000 miles) but nothing that I could pin point at that time. With age, I've noticed when she's cold, the power steering is not smooth and tends to growl at times unless you're accelerating (thank goodness for standard transmissions). Well last night, I cranked her and moved her about 10 feet and killed it. Plugged in the heater, did a quick check on the drive way for any fluids and there it was... power steering fluid hitting the ground. It was literally bubbling out of the canister. Hubby opened the canister and the whole thing was frothy. Naturally that meant putting fluid into it before driving off to work this morning. So what's going on with my girl?
  4. When I got the truck home (after $90 for the shop to tell me they don't know exactly what the problem is...), I did do the turning of the key off and on to get the codes and I did get the 0121 code. Being the case, looks like I'm going to go ahead and order my part and have it put on this week. I appreciated the video demonstration as well just so I'd know what I was looking for!
  5. 2001 Dodge 3500, 6 speed manual transmission.... hit with the dreaded "dead pedal" yesterday but after restarting the truck, it started working again which was great so I could get back home, to work today & the truck in the shop. Diagnostics on it can't find a computer code to determine the accurate diagnosis. So now what do I do, replace the APPS now or what and see if something else shows up? I often have a trailer hooked up with horses so really hate to get stranded out some where. It's the holiday week and I got a buddy that can put one in for me if I get one ordered today so whatcha' think? Help a gal out, won't ya?
