Starter contact write up
I bought Larry B's Supersized starter contact and solenoid kit several years ago. Unfortunately by the time I ordered the kit my starter stranded my in the parking deck at work:mad:. Actually it wasn't all bad; I dropped the starter right there, removed the contacts and swapped them side for side. Installed it back in and the Green Moose fired right up:thumb1:. When I got home, my Larry B kit was in the mailbox, figures:doh:. Moral of the story; when you first have any starter issues, order the kit from Larry right away. But you can drop the starter like I did, if you carry tools in your truck, and swap the contacts to get you home:). Green Moose

Borgeson Steering Shaft and Gearbox
You can use your stock steering shaft, but you have to modify the steering box input shaft by filing a flat spot on it to accomodate the stock end of the shaft. My stock shaft actually seemed tight, especially given the miles on it, so you could save some money by using your stock shaft. Also shop around for the steering box; I got lucky and bought the box and the shaft on sale from AutoPartsDealers.com before Christmas and saved about $90 bucks, plus they had free shipping. Steering wheel locked up while driving! Yikes!
GuinessBrewer, I have my ignition key on a separate ring that is detachable from the rest of my retarted collection of keys. This also comes in handy if you don't want to shut off your truck while you unlock something else or move another vehicle you have with the main key ring. Just a thought.

Borgeson Steering Shaft and Gearbox
After 295,000 miles I finally ponied up the cash to replace my steering shaft and gearbox on my 96 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4. The stock units had worn to the point that it was like driving a truck in a cheap video game. Now it feels like my Viper! Well, almost. But what a major improvement mainly with the Borgeson steering box with one full less turn lock to lock. I definetly recommend this swap for anyone with the Gen II trucks. Well worth the money.
