Not sure about fuel pressure because whoever installed the fass, removed the Shrader valve and it has just a straight line going to it. That makes sense, but when it dims down in the mornings sometimes it dies and I have to keep on the throttle til it’s warmed up. Lately it’s been pretty cold but it’s done it before when it was like 70

My truck is a 2001 2500 ram with the 24 valve. When I first start my truck up in the morning I can see the alternator kicking on and off back and forth. It gets down to about 10 volts and then goes back up to 14. It’s so bad I can watch my headlights dim and get brighter, I am wondering if this is normal operation or not? I also have a problem with my truck shutting off at idle out of nowhere, wondering if the injection pump is getting low voltage every now and then causing it to shut the truck off. Then the truck starts right back up no problem. I have done the AC noise mod and replaced the alternator about a month ago. If the pcm controls the alternator cut in/ cut out I wonder if it was harmed from the AC voltage before I fixed that? Any help would be appreciated

It has a reman VP with like 5 years on it

I doubt it’s fuel related, the only thing I haven’t replaced is the injection pump. Already installed a fuel sump, fass 150 w/ new filters, and new injectors probably 1000 miles ago. I’ll loosen my fuel cap and see if that makes a difference. I’m leaning towards maybe a damaged ECM/PCM because before I replaced the alternator the idle was really rough

Will try to get ahold of one soon Also i was wondering if the vacuum pump could be causing such a load on the engine that it shuts it off? I did have some collapsed vacuum lines that i had replaced last week, maybe the vacuum pump sucked in something its not supposed to?

2001, but when I do the key trick it displays ECM ——— and PCM ——— so it looks like It works with both computers

When I cycle the key it doesn’t show to have any codes. I don’t have a scan tool where I can check stored codes or any sensor data I sure hope not, I rebuilt the trans and replaced the tc with a billet Suncoast tc like 3000 miles ago. I checked the fluid and it looked pretty good, smelled good. There were very small shiny flakes but that would probably be from the trans break in. i also replaced the cam sensor and checked all the wiring about a month ago. I was having problems with a rough idle so I replaced the alternator because of the ac noise and it seemed to have fixed everything until now

My truck will be driving just fine for a couple days, but sometimes I will start it up and try to take off and I will just die right there, or I’ll be in a drive thru and I’ll be sitting there and it will die with no warning. Today it happened 4 times by the time I could get all the way through the drive thru. Starts up just fine, but for some reason it dies when I have it in drive with my foot on the brake. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but I did notice recently that I have a leak coming from my hydro booster. Any help would be great

Thanks mopar1973man, i replaced the alternator and did the ground wire mod. Been driving it for a few days with no problems so far

alright i drove my truck, got it up to temp and turned off all my accesories and measured .040 volts AC

Yes i put in the injectors in and then inserted the crossover tubes and made sure they seated all the way in, then i torqued the injector hold downs

I replaced my injectors and the problem didnt go away, its exactly the same

Okay so i bought this truck and drove it with no problems except for having to rebuild the weak auto trans , but i was driving it for about 15 minutes and got it good and hot then i stopped at a store and when i came back outside to leave, when i started my truck back up the engine started revving uncontrollably up and down like i was stomping on the pedal really fast on and off. I turned it off and caught a ride from somebody else and when i came back later, it started up just fine and i drove it home. Ever since, this has happened maybe 4 times and once it happened while i was driving. I got to a red light and the truck shut off, when i tried to start it back up same thing happened. Ive always had a weird idle where it kind of sound like an intermittent miss, but now it seems more severe. Even when i rev the engine and hold it at a higher rpm i can still feel it missing intermittently. I checked the codes and i got P1690 and P0341. I have replaced the cam sensor, checked all the wiring between the TPS and ECM and the CPS and ECM. Since this started i have tried multiple repairs like replace the lift pump and injectors because of info found on other forums. I sure hope it isnt the VP44 or the cam reluctor wheel. What do y'all think? Any help would be appreciated
