Extreme cold!!!
Hey guys, Ive got a question about my 01 dodge concerning my heater. I live in Big Piney Wyoming (Icebox of the nation) no kidding, we have the coldest on average temps anywhere in the US. We see sub sub zero temps here and while traveling for work as a pipeliner I get into N. Dakota as well. My 01 is probably like everyone elses, it does not like to warm up in these extreme conditions. Everything works fine, thermostat, blend door, core ect. and I also use a winter front. Have any of you used a 12v heater or another alternative to help you stay warm in your 2nd gen? Any ideas. My heated seats help lol but while my backside is warm my hands are freezing lol. I cant drive and sit on my hands LOL. Any ideas? Im open, Thanks

2013 dually wheels on a 2001?
My buddy also a rig welder just bought two 2013 dodges and he put rockstars on both of them, so he put one set of alcoas on his 2005 and sold the others w/tires to me for a grand. His 2005 was exactly the same and he checked it out because he was concerned about his. He found out that you only need 1x the diameter of the stud of threads. I endend up with 7/8 of an inch as he did. He is currently in North Dakota and if you have not been in north dakota on a right away you aint been on a bad road. He has not had an issue with them coming loose. Im gonna keep an eye on them, and so will everyone else LOL. It looks bad A$$!!!! I found this all out after I posted the question because I could not get hold of him. But thank you for the response, I appreciate it. Im hopeing my buddy buys anothe new one lol Im gonna kype those wheels too !! thanks guys

2013 dually wheels on a 2001?
Ya I posted on the other forum too, I need a answer asap, I bought a brand new set of tires and wheels off of a 2013 dually (alcoa wheels) I want to put them on a 2001 dually. I only paid $1000 for the whole set. I want to know if anyone has done this. The alcoa wheels are thicker. The dealer said they will work with my lugnuts. My lug nut is flush with the end of the stud and the stud does not have threads on the last 1/4 inch. Is this ok? I dont want to have to change all the studs. anyone else?

Tranny rebuild?
My 01 is over 12000lbs all the time, it is a pipeline welding rig so I never unload it. I just had the trans rebuilt by western trans in Idaho Falls Id. I really didnt have anything wrong with mine but it has 136000 on it and I am in very rual areas and just decided it was time just in case. I could of went with the ats or bdi and spent alot more but I take care of my trans and change the oil (pan service) every other oil change. I had them go completely through it and do a shift kit, and other valve body work, tripple disk convertor and heaver OD springs and all new coponents. I spent $3000 instead of $6000 but I did not need a trans that could handle 1000hp. I dont drive the truck like a camaro, I have a 69 swb chevy that I can hot rod. So I didnt have a billet shaft put in it but again I dont drive it hard. I think it all has to do in how you drive it what you tow and how well you take care of it. My uncles 01 went 250k on the stock 47re . Im plenty happy with mine, it shifts right now, no slipping into next gear and the TC locks right up and does not lock and unlock all the time as they do stock. I am real happy with mine and it didnt cost $6000

Dead pedal (no codes)????????
Alright guys, I noticed if I dont let it sit for a bit and warm up the tendancy for it to have the dead pedal is more likley? I am going to have my mechanic try and pull codes again. He uses a Snap-On scanner and is sure if it is throwing codes it will retrieve them. Im going on a little trip with it today to take awelding test and Ill be back this afternoon, Ill have him try again. I tried to get them with the key trick and got nothing agin yesterday and am positive there is no white smoke at all.

Dead pedal (no codes)????????
Fuel pressure is up around 20 at idle, drops to 15-16 when I get on it. No codes though. I did have a 0216 code from when my lift pump went out over a year ago but it cleared and has never came back. No codes at all? It stopped doing it for awhile but started doing it again. After I shut it off and start it again (sometimes more than once) its fine. Any suggestions on where to start without codes. Ive searched the forum , alot of dead pedal issues but they have codes.

Welding Procedures 07 -6.7 ,3500
You all do what you think is safe while welding on your truck but the only thing I would recomend is grounding close to your work, dont weld through bearings, engine and such. Basicly common sence. I weld on the back of my truck all day every day up to 300 amps welding pipe to code and Ive never had an issue and dont know anyone who has ever had an issue. Rig welders dont have time to unhook the batteries. The only time Ive ever seen an issue is in the case of bump starting the truck with the welder. It works on older rigs but I watched a guy on a project fry everything in and on his powerjoke doing this LOL. Who cares it was just a powerjoke and obviously no common sence. I have welded the exhaust, bumpers tool boxes, frames, hitches ect with no problems. Alot of guys run a ground strap off their beds that touch the ground when stopped but basiclly this is only for static electricity, so they discharge themselves before entering a live area.

Anyway he just built an engine for a buddy of mine who I weld pipe with and his new engine is problem free and gettin the $#!+ beat out of it on a pipeline rightaway in North Dakota. I think Ive done all I can do so Im Gonna let him take a stab at it and if it needs rebuilt well it is what it is. Thanks for all the help though fellas, I really appreciate it.

edge ez chip intake elbow
Alright guys, I had to get my 01 a new trans, so I went with the whole deal 3 disk TC Jam Pac valve body bla bla bla $4500!!! Got to say the stock tranny held up well even though my truck is 12600lbs. So with that said, Im thinking of adding a chip, get a little more out of the old girl. Nothing serious just a little more hp would be nice since the trans can hold it now. Ive added the S&B cold air and the AD100, so a chip is next. I have looked into the edge ez chip and want some input. Also the intake elbows, do they actually help or do anything? let me know, Thanks
