thanks again everyone, you've been tremendous help. i've bought a fuel pressure gauge but haven't installed yet. when my mil first came on 3 months ago i took my truck into a local mechanic, he thought it might be the vp, however he said it ran fine the couple of times he drove it and not to worry about it. truck seems to run fine, but my fuel mileage has gone from 20 gpm to around 16. Also, i notice it surges slightly when on cruise control. is a new vp going to correct these problems

thanks everyone. the truck is running. it is a 2002 ram 2500 5.9l 24 valve. i bought it 6 months ago with 67k miles on it. has been showing error for past 3 months. i installed a raptor 100 lift pump on it a month ago because a friend told me it would fix the problem, it hasn't. this is also my first diesel. what is the vp?

can anyone tell me what these are?
