I've read that these are actually 3/4 ton trucks. Having said that I found one for sale that I'm going to check out soon. How can I inspect the truck to tell if it's actually a 3/4 ton or a 1/2 ton? I've heard you can count the lugs on the wheels and look at the axles and suspension but I'm not sure exactly what to look for.

I meant 3rd gen. The 06-08 models.

8 lug = 3/4 or 1 ton

5/6 lug = 1500
