Posted November 20, 201014 yr Hey guys, the ABS light has been on on my '96 2wd for most of the summer. It has just RWAL. I pulled the sensor on the rear end and made sure it was clean (it was). I also made sure the connector was on good. Where else should I look?
November 21, 201014 yr Owner Well here is what i got for wiring diagrams for it... I know this is from the 2001 book but it should be close enough to aid you and wire chasing... As for the speedometer it works smoothly right? If it does it shouldn't be the rear sensor but might be another issue of wiring...
November 21, 201014 yr Author Speedometer works just like normal, smooth as silk. I had some brake issues earlier this year and fooled around with some of the wiring for the ABS under the hood, so maybe I should look there. 3/4" black electrical tape covers up the light just perfect and fits right so I kind of forgot about it 'til tonight....edit: How does a person get the ABS code(s) out with out a scanner? I know there is a way to do it, just don't know the particulars....

November 21, 201014 yr Author I *think* that you can jump a wire (black one?) to ground in the OBDII port and the ABS light will flash codes. I need to check to see what I can find out I guess.
December 29, 201014 yr I accidentally broke a vacuum line loose on the wheel well when changing the fuel filter. It caused my ABS and check engine light to come on. I also lost cruise control. I made sure all the vacuum connections were tight and my problem was corrected.
