I recentley inherited a Massey Ferguson dozer and the started quit on me. After going to a couple starter shops I now realize it's getting hard to get parts for this machine. The first shop i took it to said he can't even get the parts to rebiuld it, can't find any used ones but he did track one new one down but it's alot of $$$. The USA being as big as what it is, made me wonder if any of you guys know of spots to get this type of item or parts to do a complete rebuild. A buddy of mine did track down a brand new one for for a little over $500, but I would kind of like to find somewhere that sells parts also for future needs. The starter is a CAV # 1320090 off a Massey Ferguson 400. (not sure on the year)The drive gear on it has 10 teeth post-10164-138698183734_thumb.jpg

That puppy must have some real age to her. I don't know of any place for parts, but I did an internet search. One place advertise the starter, but no picture or price. (They did have warrantees for it ???) And the only website I could find for parts was: http://www.woodauto.com/Unit.aspx?Man=CAV&Ref=1320090 ... and they're in England ! Somewhat locally, (a maybe): http://www.machinerytrader.com/dealers/detail.aspx?CID=2813457 http:// www.tractorpart.com There has to be a place locally for parts. Can't see a Massey of any age not having parts handy. Good luck !
