Posted February 1, 201411 yr So I'm running my stock turbo and I have the ability to get a turbo out of an 04 5.9. Would it be an upgrade over my stock turbo if so what else would I to do to make it work.
February 2, 201411 yr It would be a slight upgrade(hx35 is a 56/60/12; he351cw is a 60/60/9), although I believe you would need a new exhaust down pipe and plumbing from the turbo to intercooler. Edited February 2, 201411 yr by bjytech
February 3, 201411 yr bjytech is correct from everything I have ever read. It is an upgrade on several aspects. The HE351 can handle higher boost pressures (up into the 40's I think) without overspooling. obviously it will move a little more air, and I would think it should spool faster being a 9cm instead of a 12. If I were going to swap, I would do this over a hybrid 40 for sure. Some of the more knowledgable members will clarify it all for you I am sure.
