  1. Yeah I'm glad that worked out. I pulled the timing cover today after work. I went and bought a front crank seal and a push rod cover gasket for when I put my injection pump in probably Thursday. I pressure washed the fan shroud, washer fluid tank, coolant reservoir, puke tube and bottle, and harmonic balancer to clean everything off. My KDP is still in place so that's a big load off my mind. I scraped both surfaces of the timing cover and where it bolts to to rid it of all the old gasket material. I will replace crank seal and put the timing cover back on tomorrow. How would I check the vacuum pump seal. I've never heard of that.
  2. Ok. But what is this KDP?? What does it do, how is it relevant to this conversation? I don't understand what y'all mean when you bring up killer dowel pin. Someone please explain what that is and how it might affect my oil leak. I'm just really confused.
  3. Ok. I made sure to put the cover back on right. I believe it had an arrow or a slot or something on the top left hand corner so you could tell which side was which. How bad would the crankcase seal be to replace? And what's KDP by the way?
  4. Right. I just replaced my injectors about a month ago, about 600 miles ago, so I'm pretty sure those aren't the problem. The whole under carriage of my truck is covered in oil almost to my rear differential. Th side cover has been leaking for quite some time but since I tried to fix it, about 2-3 months ago, I guess it has sprung another oil leak somewhere and the fan is blowing it up onto the inside of the hood, on my coolant reservoir, alternator, etc..
  5. Yeah that's what I was thinking. And my Puke bottle isn't full. I guess I've got two oil leaks. I'm leaking oil pretty good. When it was running I was leaking like a half gallon every week or two.
  6. Im talking about the inspection cover gasket, tappet cover gasket, side cover gasket. Some people call it different things. It's on the drivers side of the block. The ECM bolts to it..
  7. My injection pump just went out and am in the process of ordering a replacement. I have pulled it once to replace side cover gasket because it was leaking oil. But it's still leaking oil from there and somehow oil is reaching the fan and getting blown everywhere. I don't know if its leaking somewhere else too. So one way or another, since I will have the vp44 off, I'm going to replace the side cover gasket again. Should I use a butt load of RTV next time, or buy a different brand of gasket?
  8. Turns out, that didn't fix the problem. It fixed it for about 4 days and since this past Saturday it has taken me about 15 minutes to get my truck started. I put it in the shop yesterday to have them diagnose the problem. I really don't think it's the injection pump because its never short on power. I'm actually kinda hoping its the injectors because I have been wanting to upgrade them to 75hp injectors but we'll see how it goes.
  9. Well I figured out why my truck was having trouble starting! The #6 injector line was loose and leaking fuel. Starts just fine now. Thank y'all for your advice and your willingness to help. I appreciate it.
  10. I gotcha. I checked all the push loc fittings right after the installation. But I have noticed that after my truck has run for a while I can smell diesel. And the whole block is dirty, and my oil pan is wet because I have an oil leak somewhere. But I haven't been able to figure out where the fuel could be leaking..
  11. Yes I installed the airdog last Saturday and didn't have trouble with it starting for 3 days. But this past Tuesday It did it again. I have the whole triple pillar guage setup in the mail, gonna be delivered on Monday and will install them next weekend; fuel pressure, boost, and egt.
  12. Ok I just checked for codes. It threw two: P PCU, and P ECU. Anybody know what those mean off the top of your head?
  13. I don't know where to check for codes. It's an 02 just like a base model. Matted floors, manual locks, manual windows, but it does have leather seats. How do I check for codes?
  14. For some reason my truck has trouble starting. I let it sit for 3 hours or so and it has trouble. I thought the lift pump might have been the problem so I put an airdog 100 on it. Runs great when it's running but still having the same issues. I don't think it's the injection pump because it is never short on power. Every now and then it will throw a puff of white smoke right when I start it but that is only when it's cold outside. Any ideas or suggestions? I've run out possible suspects and could really use some new ideas.
  15. Yeah I watched some installation videos on YouTube. I just installed an airdog 100 and I was wanting some way to monitor my fuel pressure. I just went ahead and bought the other guages.
  16. I just ordered 3 glow shift 7 color series pillar guages: fuel pressure, boost, and pyrometer, along with the triple pillar pod. I was wondering about how long of a job that might be.
  17. Haha! Wow! I spoke too soon. How much was the shelf price?
  18. Just so you know, I doubt John Deere will be any cheaper. They are the most expensive parts out there. I might be wrong but I think it's a pretty slim chance.
  19. Thanks man, you saved me $12. Once I saw this post I imediately got on and ordered one. I have an S&B that is leaking that cleaning fluid into my turbo and intake. I've heard BHAF are the best and they last a long time. Thanks for the tip. Really helped out.
  20. Very good to know. I will get one ASAP. Does O'Reilly or NAPA carry them or will it have to be ordered online? And what about a pre filter?
  21. I just checked it. It's been removed. Is it bad for the inside of my turbo to be covered in oil? - - - Updated - - - Yeah I have an S&B intake and filter. I guess I did put too much of that filter fluid on the filter. Should I clean it out? By a new filter? What's my best bet? The filter needs to be cleaned pretty soon anyways.
  22. Ok. Just watched a video on YouTube how it's done, simple enough. Btw, what's BHAF?
  23. Alrighty good deal. I'll check it out pretty soon. If its there, what kind of tool do you use to remove it?
  24. What does it look like? I've never seen one? I guess it's on the intake side of the turbo?
  25. My airdog 100 is on the way. I have an 02 dodge ram 3500 6 spd with 4.10 diff, 264K. What is that "special tool" you used? I want to make sure I have all the right tools before starting the installation.
