  1. www.speedhut.com They make a gauge with a super bright LED light you can set where you want. Comes with everything you need for install. Had one in my truck for about 6 years now and no issues thus far.

  3. Okay, here goes. I finally got rid of the factory amps located behind the factory speakers and was able to retain the factory wiring. I just cant bring myself to cut into the factory wiring. It has caused too many issues in the past. By doing it this way if the factory wiring is ever needed, stop by the local just yard and pick up a set of factory door speakers and install them and you are ready to go again. All you do is cut the wires close to the amp located on the factory speakers. My 2001 color codes are as follows; Violet-front + Blue-front - Orange-rear - tie together Grey-rear - tie together Brown-rear + tie together Yellow-rear + tie together Red-front tweeter + black-front tweeter - White-not used - tape this one up Green-not used - tape this one up After doing this all the front, rear, left and right controls should work as normal and no running extra wires. This is what I did on my 2001 2500 and it works great. If you ever sell the truck and want to keep all the "good stuff" just put factory speakers back in place and plug them in and you should be good to go.
  4. Good deal, thanks for that info. Back to the drawing/wiring board for me. Thanks again,
  5. Thanks again Mike, your site is great.
  6. I have an 01 2500 but recently changed the factory stereo, it finally gave it up. My problem is all but one of the speakers quit. There is supposed to be a factory amp somewhere and I can not find it. I have the harness to bypass the factory amp, which i think is the problem but I need help finding it. I have already replaced the new stereo I installed but that didn't help so it has to be the factory amp ??????? Also, I have replaced all the factory speakers. I really do not want to cut any wires, all the aftermarket stereo was installed using Metra connectors to save the wires. Cutting factory wires just leads to problems later on, or at least that is my opinion. Just cant see what would have caused three speakers to quit at the same time. Ahy help or ideas ?? Any advice will be appreciated.
