  1. its had a constant 1693 for awhile now. i'll have to check on the AC noise. I know ive seen you explain how to do that several times. i'll have to find one of those threads.
  2. figured that'd be a good place to start. recommend any brands? any to stay away from?
  3. been having several issues for awhile now. truck sometimes will not start after being driven, then shut off for a short time. so I lean towards an air leak in the fuel system. secondly, the tach will drop to zero while idling or driving, with significant loss of power and shifting issues. lastly, im on my third throttle position sensor(first actual MOPAR one tho). when accelerating and it finally shifts into overdrive, if you're not getting on the highway and getting on it, and just kind of cruising at 45-55, rpm's start jumping around quite a bit. I was resigned to diagnose all these issues individualy until a friend who is way more familiar with diesels than I am suggested a lot of this sounds like a bad cam sensor. thoughts? 2000 2500 2WD automatic trans
  4. You heard it right Me. No parts place will let you use a scanner. They used to! Then the dealer's and others started complaining a few years back, and of course, they made it illegal in CA.
  5. Thanks man, glad to be here. That's what I'm trying to avoid, but, unfortunately, it's illegal in the Banana Republic of California for any business to scan vehicles for free. Will a dealer do it for a fee?
  6. Great. How do I find that? All I've been doing is the turn the key three times deal to see what codes are there. Would an OBDII suffice? The other Chrysler sensor that moparman says I'd need is $2000!!
  7. See, that's where I get confused. The p0122 clears on its own I'm assuming, because it doesn't come up anymore. If I don't clear it with a scanner, is it technically still there?
  8. Yesser...and after i replace it, I get code 1693.
  9. Hello everyone. I'm on my third APPS in less than a year in my 2000 2500. Once replaced, code 0122 is gone, but I then get 1693. The APPS have lasted anywhere from three months, to three days, to even six hours. Then, the surging at around 50-55mph(after OD kicks in, if I'm not gettin on it)starts again. It will even do it with no code 0122 or check engine light. I have zero experience in how ECM and PCM codes work. If the 1693 isn't cleared after replacement, will it still think there is a problem, and could that be causing this screwy, vicious circle?
