05 removing negative battery cable problem.
I really didn't think we get 2 pages out of this and I'm glad we got good ways on how to clean the corrosion off. I've always used the electric glop my friend gives me. I don't know what's it's called but it works really well. The problem is the PO didn't really take care of the truck. I wouldn't have let it get that way in the first place. Keep them clean and they'll work better.Eugene

Additional Fuel Filter Installs on a 3rd Gen
That's what I'm kinda worried about. I do like that it's shorter but I'm not sure on how well it will work. The gauge is stead at 8-9psi at idle so I'm crossing my finger it will supply enough fuel. I hope I don't do anything bad to the motor trying to save a few bucks. Your posts on cf.com had been very helpful. Thanks, Eugene

Well it's on and what a PITA. Cat filter w/ base. This is not the kits the vendors sell w/ baldwin base. I was going to get the vendor kit but I couldn't return this one because I scratch up the filter trying to remove it. I can't remember what this model number is but it's ports was really small. I decided to drill it out to 1/4". Got the rest of the fitting and hose from Vulcan. I then had to fab up a bracket which is a 1/4". This filter is suppose to be the new 2 micron filter but when I cycle the fuel pump, it almost filled up a liter bottle. Is this right? I would think it's would be less. That fuel pump is strong. I also replace the banjo bolt to the filter housing to a bore out one from geno's garage. So here some pix. edit: Filter/base is CAT 308-7480. Eugene

Air Filter
LOL...I say a little better air flow. First thing I do when I get a vehicle, the stock air box goes. Then the exhaust. I know that it doesn't gain much if any power but I like more air flow. I can't say if they filters better then stock filter but they all claim theirs do so I go w/ it. I do stick w/ dry media filter verses one that you have to oil. JMO.Eugene

Your right Rogan. Mine is exactly like that. Weird. Then I had more fun. Passenger side clamp won't budge. Tried to pry if off w/ straight screw driver and the whole post comes off. I thought I was strong but I didn't think I was that strong. That whole battery was toast. And while trying to get that post out of the clamp, I torn one of the ear off. That lead was soft. I decided to cut both clamps off and got one of those clamped on ends. It's just temporary so I could get the truck running. Going to a real auto parts to get some clamped for the I posts. Sodder, heat shrink and it should be good for a while.Eugene

05 removing negative battery cable problem.
I got some baking soda and water sitting on the terminals. The good hardware store is closed so I'll wait until tomorrow to get this nut off. I got all your suggestions down so I don't think I'll have problem. Thanks for all the help.Eugene

Yes, I did but I didn't force it. I didn't want to round out that nut. It's been raining all morning so I haven't messed with it. I'm pretty sure if I force it with a vice grip, it's going to break off. Do you think that corrosion eroded that bolt down to that size?
