  1. Yes, truck ran perfectly all day. Drove @250 miles, loaded the wagon, drove @100 miles and that was it.
  2. Unknown brand, could have been the stock ones. Truck has 300k+ miles. The only sign was blowing lots of gray smoke and a miss and a slight knock at idle. I didn't pick up on the smoke right away as it was dark and foggy weather. Babied it to a truck stop and elected to tow to a nearby shop, but the damage was done.
  3. #5 injector cracked and was dumping fuel. Hashed up the #5 hole and beat up the head. The cylinder is just past the limit for boring. Messaged you....
  4. Looks like I hashed my engine. I'm not finding many good used ones, so considering a reman unit. Are there any decent reman companies out there? Checked Jasper and their prices are pretty high. I really can't justify $10k to put an engine in a 20 year old truck that's only worth about $10k......
  5. Thanks guys. I ended up ordering from High Impact. Their remans have all the updates, price was about the same as everyone else, with a 2yr warranty. Seemed the best value for the money.
  6. Looks like my NV4500 trans hashed itself. Looked online, saw Midwestern and SP Precision. SPP has them on sale + a lower core charge. Anyone use either of these places?Any other rebuilder recommendations?
  7. Updating the thread....... Looks like I need an alternator AND an ECM. Sometimes I wonder why we keep these old trucks. Fix one problem and find two more............ Thanks for all the input guys!
  8. AC noise test is on the agenda for tomorrow, I'll update the post after. Thanks for the info guys!
  9. No, left it unplugged to be sure.........no WTS light. Okay, in the event I need a new ECM, where is a good source for one?
  10. No WTS light. Waited @2 minutes, no light, and no grid heaters. Possible solutions short of replacing the ECM? I'll replace it if needed, but I'd rather cover all the bases before doing that........ I've seen a lot of posts ( here and other sites ) where folks with this issue are not able to start the engine at all, and mine starts and runs normally. Any idea why? Also saw some posts that say that 1693 code cannot be seen by itself.......but it's the only code showing on my truck.
  11. I really can't say, didn't see it, but the truck had been plugged in and it was actually very warm outside. I left it unplugged for tonight, and will check in the morning when I know it'll be cold enough to run the grids........
  12. Truck in my sig...... This truck has had a FASS 150 on it for @10 years, has and still does work correctly. Up until yesterday, key "on", pump ran a couple of seconds, or bump the starter and pump ran for @20 seconds. Yesterday, key "on", no pump, bump the starter, pump runs a few seconds and shuts off. The FASS is run with a relay plugged into the factory lift pump harness. The truck starts and runs, and maintains @14 psi constant after being started. I unplugged the FASS harness, tested the relay and the harness, checked out ok, and the pump runs with 12v direct to it. Key "on", the factory lift pump harness shows 7v, bump the starter it goes to 9v-10v for a few seconds, then back to 7v ( I neglected to check voltage there with the engine running). The factory pump harness appears to be intact. The CEL is not on, though my scanner picked up a companion code P1693, but it didn't specify what the problem is. Also, I cannot clear this code. Any ideas on what has failed?
  13. Might work. Dynamat and Boom Mat are two products made for this purpose. I haven't checked prices. If you don't want to piecemeal your own setup, Quietride Solutions makes various kits for our trucks. More expensive, for sure, but everything comes in one box and away you go. www.quietridesolutions.com
  14. Bringing this back up...... Did the diagnostic, everything checked out okay. Still getting the intermittent P0222. The code only seems to come up when I have the truck under load (4th gear, heavy throttle, pulling maybe 10k load). Could the Timbo APPS be causing this? It is an older unit, installed 8 or possibly 10 years ago.......
