Thanks for this write up Mike, I added the fuse and circuit breaker to my alternator circuit while waiting for my rebuilt ECM to arrive.

List of Verified and Reliable PCM/ECM Rebuilders
Add my truck as another success for Auto Computer Specialists. I shipped the ECM to them on 9/23 by UPS truck. I listed my symptoms and the trouble code and they were able to fix it for me. I received my repaired ECM on 10/13 and test drove the truck today.

Where to Buy Multifunction Switch?
Makes sense. All I could find on the Napa website was Echlin brand, no idea of the quality. I think Echlin used to be good. I bought a Standard brand from O'Rielly's, lifetime warranty. They had a different brand for 10 bucks less and a one year warranty.

Where to Buy Multifunction Switch?
It's been several years since I've had to buy anything electrical for a vehicle. Years past I bought Napa components since that was the only game in town. These days one well respected independent shop recommends O'Rielly's, saying they won't buy Napa electrical parts, while some knowledgeable friends have had problems with O'Riell'ys parts. I need a multifunction switch, which store is recommended for quality electrical parts? Thanks

New Member Checking In
I had an email invite to post an intro and forgot to, then I responded up forum to a question so thought I'd poke my head in here and say "Hi". This is my 4th Dodge CTD, my 2nd '01 and my 2nd one with an auto trans. I bought my first '01 (w. manual trans) new off the lot, drove it for 7 years and 60K miles and traded it for an SUV for my wife. Two years later I bought a used '08 w. auto trans and traded it a month later for an '05 w. manual. I drove that one for 6 years and 55K miles. Two months ago I bought this '01 with 193K miles and found this forum while researching the auto trans. I figured this transmission has been around long enough that all the weaknesses are known and the after market has fixes for them. I worked on Fords for a living briefly in the '90's and despise the E4OD, so I avoided auto transmissions when ever possible. I do as much of my own work as I can, that was the reason for going back to an older truck. I intend to keep it stock, my first '01 was a little tuned up but when I started riding motorcycles I realized nothing on four wheels will be that fast, that I can afford to drive anyway. I live near Carson City, NV so will be doing some towing in the mountains and will look to optimize the truck for that and long distance road trips.

Front End Wander
Charlie, how long have you owned this truck? Is the wander recent, or has it done it for a while? I bought a well used '01 two months ago and installed ball joints, tie rod, drag link and track bar. I use all top shelf NAPA components except the track bar, I'll upgrade that to the 3rd gen style when it goes again. Once I got the toe adjusted right using my neighbors gauge I took up on the steering box and it still wandered. The final piece of the puzzle was tires. The 33's that were on it were shot from being driven too long with a bad front end. I found a set of used stock size tires on Craigslist that looked good and have some life left in them. This truck now drives almost as good as my first '01 did when it was new.
