  1. This is the 1st time I have used the Donaldson oil filter (ELF 7349). I am using it with Rotella 15w/40 synthetic. I plan to run it 10,000 miles before changing. Is that too long? I use my truck for normal driving but sometimes tow a 35ft 5th wheel, mostly flat country on the Ms. gulf coast. Tx in advance.
  2. Yep, they beat ebay by $1.68 At $12.01 Tx.
  3. Yes, the ELF7349. I believe it will fit a 2001 24 valve 5.9L. Tx. for the info, hadn`t thought about Ebay. I`ll check it out.
  4. I`m looking for a web site with the best price for a Donaldson oil filter online. Best price so far is $24.00. Will it filter Rotella 15W40 Synthetic properly? Tx.
  5. I`ll check the online suggestion, it works better for me. Tx.
  6. Good idea, I`ll do it. Tx.
  7. Tx The nearest store to me was 55 miles round trip so for this change I`ll stick with NAPA and Rotella 15/40 and check online for the next one. Tx again.
  8. I live on the Ms. coast and haven`t heard of Donaldson. What store sells it?
  9. Good idea, i`ll do the search. Tx.
  10. Walmart has a Fram oil filter that says it is for synthetic oil and you change it at 10,000 miles. Anybody ever use it? That seems like a long time between oil changes to me. I bought it but I plan to change at 7000 miles. What say you?
  11. I believe you are correct. Wonder where I went wrong, I should have known THAT!. Lol. Tx for the reply.
  12. I tow my 35ft. 5th wheel in OD (15,000 lbs loaded) it`s always on, In town I don`t go fast enough to get to OD. On the interstate I keep it in OD with the cruise on, at 65mph. it is about 1600 or so rpm and when I hit a steep grade it down shifts and the rpms go to 26 1/2 to 27 still holding at 65 mph, once it tops the grade it shifts back to OD. All this is done smoothly. I can`t see what the fuss is all about. It`s pretty simple with an automatic. 134,000 mi. No problems. I cannot tell you if I do it right however.
  13. Put a new belt on mine too. Now, sometimes it does it, some time it doesn`t. Not much to be concerned about I suppose. (hope) Tx.
  14. I get this short high pitch squeal every time I shut the engine off. Sounds like a belt squeal but I`m not sure. neighbor said it could be a bad damper? What say you? Tx. 2001 dodge Ram, 5.9L 47re Trans.
  15. Thanks, hadn`t thought of that.
  16. When I pulled my 5th wheel trailer this weekend and when I turned the steering wheel, a couple times I got this jerky or shudder turn like it wanted to stop turning and I could hear a grinding sound like a pully going out might sound like. It did not do it every time and has only done it once while not towing but I do get a vibration at idle in the steering wheel all the time, flushed the PS system. New fluid. What say you, guys. Thanks in advance.
