Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
So I ended up drinking a little too much and never went and snagged the man at thoroughbred... but I was told to check my crossover tubes and make sure they are seated and that there is no blockages on the return side of my fuel system all checks out good, also when I was out of town walked out the hotel room and she was being stubborn had a hard start long cranks with a hit and a miss here and there was about to bleed the injectors and Bam she fired up stumbled for a min and hasn't skipped a beat since ( this was Saturday morning). Could this be VP related or was this just something stupid?? Oh and I forgot to mention when the low fuel and sump and 1/4 tank issue popped up I instantly thought the lift pump was cutting out because I was told the ecms where famous for cutting out lift pump signal on the early 24v models (this info was from bluechip) so I wired it to a key on accessory. So to wrap it all up should I just yank the VP off and send it to thoroughbred I was told to leave my cover and wiretap on there so they could check it with and without pump tap or do y'all have any ideas of something else to check because I ain't looking to go 2 weeks without my ride.

Well currently I'm at Rudy's season opener in North Carolina and I spoke with the guy at thoroughbred and he said he'd have a look at it so we will see what he has to say and I'll keep y'all posted

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
So think tonight has solved it all while driving the truck coming to a stop I noticed that my fuel pressure kept dropping when coming to a stop then when I accelerated would hop back up 10 secs later.. had 1/4 tank of fuel and have a beans diesel sump on the bottom of the tank when braking hard all the fuel will rush to the front of the tank causing the fass to start sucking air then when you get going the fuel will return and pressure will hop back up and stay there so I think that's why I'm having all these issues the VP has been starved for fuel alot when driving with less than 1/4 tank and that's why my truck is acting up the VP is barely hanging on and can't fuel to the adrenalines standards

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Here in the past few days I've had a misfire on a hot start. Misses 3 or 4 times then straightenes right out and runs fine doesn't skip a beat on factory level 2 tune but still gets more and more angry as the levels go up and really gets pissed off when I run the tune I posted earlier and still just a haze of grey smoke turned all the way up Since installing the fuel pressure sender for the quad following @Mopar1973Mans instructions in another post. fuel pressure hangs out between 13 and 15 just cruising and wot it will go to 9 and then hop right back up after the initial draw, just for the hell of it I cycled the lift pump one time while my main feed line was off to make sure the fuel wasn't full of air bubbles or lack of volume and that was a mistake considering I only had a 1/2 gallon catch can cause it filled that up and was still dumping it on the floor for me to clean up so I feel that I have plenty of fuel going to the VP

I unhooked the adrenaline and had B+ KOEO

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Okay I will take my power probe home with me this evening and retest and holler back with results... again thanks for everyone's help this truck has me pulling my hair out!

B+ with KOEO That's the only way I know how to check it I back probe The wire where my weatherproof Spade terminals meet up with the wire provided with the stealth cover

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
So with all that being said no mater what I have done I've never seen that truck smoke on any tune I've ran since I replaced to VP (I can't contest to the factory VP cause the first time I let it rip I lifted fast and seized the rotor) is it possible I got a bad vp does that explain the lack of smoke and all the spit and sputter pop and crack?
-
Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Well with the settings like they are should it smoke it's tale off? Because if it does all is good and I'll change them but I ran that exact tune minus his corrected timing and hardly got a puff..
-
Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Should I change that number? I'm really not looking for smoke but I want too see it smoke just once to verify that I'm getting the fuel in the hole then I'll turn it to whatever you tell me I'm just looking for a fun tune a screw it let's see if the trans builder did a good job tune. I haven't gotten the chance to run it with the corrected timing cause i swapped trucks with a buddy for me to take it to the shop to get it inspected. But I'll let you know as soon as I get back in the seat Oh I forgot I have a BD stealth cover installed that's the only way thoroughbred will warranty it

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Makes sense.. I'll post pics of the entire tune and then once corrected I'll post to the download section because I couldn't find any rv275/hx35 tunes and still don't completely understand how to do it myself I'm still trying to learn the if I change this number it's gonna effect that number kinda thing but I reckon that will come with time.

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Does that explain the lack of smoke due to inadequate timing?

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
So yesterday after driving and playing around with the new tunes I was interested in the data logs and my numbers where pretty low 19lbs of boost 1200 egt 100% load unfortunately I didn't screenshot it to save it so y'all could see all the parameters but I was concerned because no matter how hard I tried I couldn't even make the truck smoke so tonight I got home and played around and decided to load the stock injector race tune from the download just for the heck of it and see what happened low and behold no smoke the same spit and sputter when you slap it from a dig and the nasty pop/crack out the tailpipe when In lock up and hit i never even hit 100% throttle so my question is am I just asking for too much out of a near stock truck or do I have something wrong? Can a sovp not send the fuel I'm asking for? And if there is any test I can run on that VP to test it?

After the reflash and install of your corrected tunes the truck runs like a dream not smokey and gets up and goes. Huge thanks to @Mopar1973Man @Dieselfuture @Me78569 and @kzimmerfor helping get all this straight it was a long hard battle but we came out on top! This is by far the best forum for 24v info specs and general knowledge. Next up is the fuel pressure sensor install and a brakes on all 4 corners again fellas thank you. thank you. thank you I can't say it enough

We flashed to version 2.8.4 on the way home now to test truck should I run your tunes or mine that you corrected?

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
I have a buddy that's a computer wiz has every windows os back to 95 and he can do Linux as well we are on the way to his house now will have more info soon and the only tube file I could find was the hard fuel tune so can I download that then make my tune with the parameters you gave me and should be fine as long as the files activate on the module via Bluetooth? Is this correct?

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Ive been trying the flash here for awhile and it keeps saying devcon failed and won't let me proceed any farther and I'm using a USB mini cable from an old go pro

And when I try to apply the new tune it says x amount of tunes failed to update every time I try to install running 1998-2002 V2 Dodge version 2.7

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Well it won't let me post pics of the rest but I'll type it all out Rpm timing max 12.5/1500 15.5/2000 21.0/2500 24.0/3000 25.0/max 6 power levels 3200 rpm limit Max valet mode power 100% Max fuel stretch 1725 Tps max 100 Tps min 25 Minimum pump tap % 0 Pump low boost scale psi 7psi Boost scaling 37psi Max load timing offset 1.5° Low psi reduct 2.5° Timing reduct scaling 100% Light throttle timing adv. 2° Light throttle load limit 0% And when I try to apply the new tune it says x amount of tunes failed to update every time I try

So here are the data logs canbus fuel at 0%?? Have b+ at pump tap wire KOEO.. had a buddy ride with me and the nasty noise from 4th gear locked up and lay into it he said it was an "exhaust crack" and his used to do it all the time when he fueled hard or and the turbo wasn't lit and when he downshifted and rpms went up but he said that my spit and sputter from a dig wasn't normal and something was definitely wrong there. This morning driving in the day light on level 10 at 50mph went to 70% throttle it popped and cracked and it hazed a good bit of grey smoke but my buddy said it should have ploomed black so idk egts went up there like I had fuel? Oh and the fuel pressure at 0 I don't have the sensor for the quad yet earlier fuel pressure reading where right off the fass with a buddy in the bed reading the guage? And here's my 1st shot on the custom tuning y'all tell me how she looks

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
I'm running the factory V2 tunes and I'll be honest with you man Ive messed with the custom tuning but Im really not comfortable using them scared I could tear something up I've thought about buying the pdd monitor with their tunes on it! I feel fuel timing in the pump is off from a dig it'll act up when I'm about 2200 rpm at 55 TC locked is when it's really pissed if I ease into the pedal about 1650 to 1800 she's poping cracking raising hell turn the tuner down to stock full fuel to 2700 no sputter

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
Okay so I bought 6 brand new rv275 40+ injectors and new tubes installed while I was at the shop I did the ground mod.. ecm voltage is around 13.5 all the time (seems low to me) and I wasn't sure what to do with old alt charge lead where I cut it near the ground splice (still had B+ voltage) so I just taped it up and let her rip so some input on that would be appreciated. And the verdict is it still spits/sputters under load still have the fuel knock it literally sounds like it's running lean poping and cracking out the tailpipe. Still have the p1693 code if I turn the tuner up in park and hit the go pedal shell smoke, then reach up put it in gear and hit the go pedal (65-75 throttle position) it just starts to hop up then spits sputters pops and cracks with no smoke. Possible a brand new VP went out?? Looking forward to replies! Thanks again

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
No I didn't bench test just went and bought a brand new one and no never have adjusted the valves but it sounds like a nasty bottom end knock kinda like a spark knock on a gas engine and here is one key piece of info I left out I bought the truck off my old man who only drove it about once every 2 months and would start it here and there let it idle to about 150 and cut it off possibly gummed up injectors that have finally crapped the bed? But I've put 15k on it in 2 years??? And I will unhook the field lead and test drive tomorrow

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
So I just slapped an alternator on it and took her for a spin same problems but now I have a nasty knock when it tries to take off. Set the tuner back to stock throw it to the mat and still hear it trying to act up but can't physically feel any difference. As far as the ground mod goes is this a necessity because I'll try it but I'm running out of time fast I have 2 weeks before I have a 10hr trip towing 10k and would like to have it fixed by then if that were the problem is there anyway to identify it without tearing the harness apart check resistance across a wire maybe idk? Should I throw a set of injectors in it next and try it? Again thanks for any input

Spit/sputter misfire? Defueling?
So this has been an on going issue for quite some time and have hit a road block, under heavy engine load ONLY with tuner turned up it will spit/sputter best way I can explain it is it sounds like I'm bouncing rev limiter, within the last 8k miles I put on a fass pump new vp44 and a revmax trans ( trans was slipping and thought that was the problem spitting and sputtering at 2700 rpms) now she spits and sputters at all different times based on current speed engine load tps and level of tune. I've checked fuel pressure 17 at idle /14 at WOT /, less than .075v of ac noise in alt. Have a p1693 in the pcm that stays after cleared and p1475 witch has not come back yet. tps seems to be right on the money crank signal seems good on my Solus ultra never drops off.. but the B+ voltage on the VP averages 12.1v and will spike to ecm v randomly when ecm v is 13.8-14.1 is this normal or is this the whole problem do I have a ecm on the way out the door? Did I get a **** vp? Any help would be nice
