  1. So do you suggest this may not be causing the odd idle? Im considering putting in newer injectors with the hopes it will take care of the minor idle issue. And I did try that but nothing changed. I had problems with my smarty at one time which is probably why. I got stuck in a tune.
  2. I'm getting this code with no check engine light but the truck does not idle as well as it used to. That is the only symptom. P602 is a programming issue with the ECM. Any ideas?
  3. I actually ran a full tank down with 32 ounces of Power Service Diesel injector cleaner in the gray bottle. So far it is running a lot better and I found out the starting problem was because i was leaking fuel from the fuel pressure sensor. I tightened it up and have not had any starting issues. Thanks for all the input!
  4. yeah after reading something you had posted on injectors that was my first thought with the misfire feel. i was debating tearing into the injectors and trying to clean them. what kind of places will pop test the injectors?
  5. After driving 250miles south she was running fine. I filled up and shortly after had what felt like a misfire. the truck was driving fine but it just wasnt idling like it used to. I put another 750 miles in the same week and have filled up 2 or three times now and it still isnt idling right. i changed the fuel filter and now a day later its not starting right. it will turn over, choke a couple times and die. then i have to crank for about 6-10 second with nothing and then she will fire and run. I my lift pump is just over a year old and my pressure sensor recently died do to lack of isolation. i have plenty of power all around still and my fuel mileage is still the same. you can tell also if you hold the throttle down to 1200rpms or so, it doesnt run perfectly like it used to. im at about 139000 miles in this 01 24v. Did i just get a bad dose of fuel and it may just need to still work out its issues? Im going to replace the filter again. any ideas would be greatly welcomed.

  8. Out of shear curiosity, how long and/or how many miles do you go before changing your oil? What oil do you use? Myself I use Amsoil 15w40 and generally go about 6000 miles before I change it. I'm still programmed to change oil every 3000 miles so it just feels wrong to even go that long! I've read where some people go a whole year between oil changes and so I would just like to start a poll and see what guys are doing! Thanks!

  10. My question is, I just had TSI install there HD Precision TC ("the biggest and baddest" in the sales guy's words) and the only thing I have really noticed is smoother overall driving. I have read that stock doesnt transfer power as well and it still seems to be that way after the upgrade. In third gear the TC locks and it pulls really hard but not nearly has hard unlocked. Feels like I am losing a lot of power in other gears. The tranny is in great shape and has always held shifts fine even with the stock converter and valve body. Is there something else I dont understand and need to also upgrade to get the full power potential out of the auto trans or did they not install what they told me they did? Any light shed would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I replaced the tensioner pulley and that chirp or sneeze sound was gone for good.
  12. Although this thread is a month old now i just want to comment on oils. I bought my truck back in the spring with 104000 ish miles and that motor was loud and it almost seemed to be getting louder. I started to almost regret buying it it was so loud. I changed the oil when the sticker on the truck said to which i found out was way later then i should have (i let that dealership have a piece of mind). long story short I used amsoil 15w 40 and right after took it on a few hundred mile trip. after i got home i was standing next to it and suddenly realized how quiet the motor ran. went from this loud growl to a subtle purr(as far as diesels go). shortly after i began to notice i could really hear the turbo from the exhaust like nobodys business(5in stacks straight piped)! While driving the turbo would also seem to spool easier and got louder from the cab. I swear by it and wont ever use anything else.
  13. I am just curious as to what upgrades can support around what hp inrease. To my understanding doing just torque converter and valve body would be ok for a little more hp over stock but does anyone know about how much? Also, adding on the input and output shafts, how much more can you then add? My goal for now is a Smarty tuner and 75 horse injectors.

  15. No matter what, if the key is in the "run" position, not even engine RPM will change it, the needle stays on the last line before the max, period.I have looked before and its right where it needs to be on the dip stick.
