2005 48re O/D lockout switch
Sorry for butting in here but what exactly does this mod do? I've seen it discussed a lot but I don't know if I'm grasping the full concept. Does this just keep your tranny from shifting into O/D out of 3rd? I have an 06 with a Tow Haul mode and then if I hit the button again it turns the O/D off. Is this the same thing? Again sorry, I'm just wondering if this is something I could or need to do.

What is this noise? (video)
Dang, I was hoping no one would say anything like that. I was hoping for something more along the lines of "thats the sound the super ulta mega high output motor makes, those are rare, youre a lucky sob." Well, I really hope this is not my problem. Right now I'm suspecting (hoping) it's my water pump. The pulley seems to have some play in it. I'm gonna replace it as soon as I have a chance and pray that cures the sound. I'm not scared to pull the head and inspect it but I just dont have the cash right now to deal with it.

What is this noise? (video)
I dont know why its asking for a password, I made the folder public but you should be able to click on the picture below and see it. Ya when I stick my ear to the the filter box it is louder. In the video I took the lid off the box ad you can really hear the noise when you stick your ear next to the intake tube. How would I go about diagnosing a damaged valve or seat? Pull the head or is there any easier way?

Dropping RPM's slowly (video)
Thanks for the input, I posted this on another site as well and all the feedback I got said pretty much the same thing; this is normal. Like I posted on there, I'm used to gassers and on a gasser when I rev the engine and let off the pedal the RPM's drop pretty quickly. No one knew exactly why these trucks do that but the theories were the same as well. They were saying they believe its due to the high pressure that is in the CR which really makes sense, pressures gotta go somewhere. I'm new to Diesels and this truck is new to me so I am nit-picking every little thing that seems ununsual or different to me. I'll calm down after a while and stop being so overly worried once I get to know the truck and the engine better.

Yeah I adjusted my valves a few days ago, good times It did quite my truck down a lil but this noise is still there. Someday whatever it is will break and Ill replace it and then I will know for sure

Dropping RPM's slowly (video)
As you can see in this video when I am in park or nuetral and rev my engine my RPMs seem to hang for a second and then drop off slowly. I have searched the forums and Ive seen most people say they have a similar issue but it is usually combined with issues while driving like the engine surging while they're driving. I dont have any problems when I'm driving, runs and decelerates fine, it only happens when I rev the engine from idle. Also in these posts I've found most people seem to say that the injectors are causing the problems in these other guy's trucks. Ive think Ive seen one person say it could be a bad torque convertor. I'm personally wondering if it could be a problem with the APPS. What do you guys think? I'm really hoping its not injectors because monies tight right now

What is this noise? (video)
I was listening to my buddies 04 and I didnt hear it on his and thats what got me worried about my truck. Maybe just some of the trucks make that noise, I dont know. I havent found where its coming from yet and I havent had any problems associated with anything that could be causing it......yet

HE351CW Compressor Wheel Locknut Torque?
Heres what I've got from the service data sheets. Both the HX30 and the HY35 show a torqque of 124 in lbs and from my understanding these are the 2 turbos most similar to the HE351. I'm basically looking for some input from somebody who has rebuilt one of these guys before or somebody who knows somebody that has done it, something, any kind of educated input.

Video of turbos bench tested and exploding
I found this video of Holset bench testing their turbos and some knock off turbos. After watching this I feel a lot better about having my stock turbo. Sorry if this is a re-post http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za0DieZHMKc

HE351CW Compressor Wheel Locknut Torque?
Does anyone know the torque spec's for HE351CW compressor wheel locknut? Holset doesn't show it in the service data sheets I've found. The closest I can find is 124 in. lb's on an HX30 which is very similar. I'm using the 12 point locknut

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER Failure Message Chart
Ok fixed my sig, yeah I downloaded the 06 FSM and I didnt see a chart in there. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot, I was looking under section 8j - INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. It does say how to do the test but then goes on to say that if you recieve any codes to connect a scan tool. I was hoping someone here could give me some indication as to what this meant before I went to the stealership --- Update to the previous post... Heres a video so you can see what I'm talking about

What is this noise? (video)
I'm getting ready to rebuild my turbo, I have some shaft play, so I got another used but good one to throw on while I'm rebuilding this one. When I had my intake off testing out the new to me turbo I could still hear this noise. Its coming from the engine somewhere I just cant tell where. I havent had the chance to adjust my valves yet but I will definitely post back when I do and let you guys know my results. I appreciate the help, thanks

WIX Oil Filter?
I think this is what your looking for, Donaldson P558615 40um @ 98.7%, 20 @ 50% Cellulose Fleetguard LF3972 30um @ 95% (35 @ 98.7% last info) Cellulose Wix 57620 30um @ 95%, 20um @ 50% Cellulose Wix 57620XE 25um @ 95%, 14um @ 50% Glass Enhanced Cellulose Baldwin BT7349 30um @ 98.7%, 12um @ 50% Synthetic blend Fleetguard LF16035 30um @ 100% (25um @ 98.7% last info) Stratapore Synthetic Purolator L45335 20um @ 97.5% Cellulose Purolator PL45335 20um @ 99.9% Synthetic Amsoil EaO80 20um @ 100%, 15um @ 98.7%, 7um @ 59.97% Nanofiber Synthetic Donaldson Elf7349 20um @ 100%, 15um @ 98.7%, 7um @ 59.97% Nanofiber Synthetic Mobil 1 M1403 10um @ 50% Synthetic blend I'm in the same boat as you. I cant get the Donaldson and Fleetgaurds where I'm at. The closest thing I have is an O'Reilly's and its a small one at that. Now looking at the information above and somebody correct me if I'm wrong but the Mobil 1 filter has a better rating then either of the Wix filters and its available at pretty much any parts store in the country.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER Failure Message Chart
I was reading in the articles about testing the instrument cluster and it says to refer to the Failure Message Chart but there isnt a chart anywhere I could find over there. Anyways I searched the internet and I found several charts but none of the codes on these charts were similar to what I showed. When I turn my key on I get "5 127" ". 285" "C 447" These numbers cycle through 4 times at approximately 3 seconds intervals each and then ends with "5 127" cycling a fifth time before it goes back to my mileage. The entire time these numbers are cycling through my gauges are moving through their test points, from what I read each one is stoping in the correct location. I am not getting any C codes and I'm not getting a "C00 00" indicating there are no issues. I looked in the 2006 Factory Service manual and I didnt see a chart in their either, mostly it said to connect a scan tool to find any faults. So my question is are these codes I'm getting an indication of faults and if so what faults? Also does anyone know where I can find the Fault Chart?
