  1. What gearing and tire size do you have? That sounds about right for speed/rpms. I will try to find out tonight about the cam and crank sensors. If I'm not mistaken I believe one is just a secondary but I could be wrong. If the ecu thinks its running over 3000 rpms it's not going to rev any higher because of the factory rev limiter.
  2. Good deal bud, does the motor actually sound like it is revving to 3000+ rpms? Im not sure if the ecu uses the crank or cam sensor. The tach and the ecu may each use a different sensor. I would get a handheld tach and check the actual rpms and see which one is accurate, the tach may be reading correctly but if the ecu reads off the other sensor, it may think it is actually revving that high.
  3. Yeah I've been thinking about gettin a new half ton, but I would feel helpless driving it with no power to get up and go when I want haha.
  4. Looks almost identical to mine. I would think it should do what you want it to.
  5. May even be able to find a nicer used one on ebay.
  6. I bought one from sears, im wanting to say it was about $280. Not too high for all the info it gives me. It isnt as fancy as some of the other high tech scanners, but it shows a good bit of live data.
  7. Correct, just making sure he isnt mislead by mistake.
  8. Make sure you drop the steering collumn. I used a 5/16 socket and 1/4 drive ratchet with a two inch extension on the screws on the front on mine. They were hex headed and also had the slots for phillips screwdriver, but the socket and ratchet gave me a lot more easily usable torque and also was shorter, so it was easier to fit my big hand back there with it. Your screws may not be hex headed, but hopefully they are.
  9. He already stated that there are no codes. I agree with the apps reset. My truck with a weak lift pump only pumping 5 psi wot would run 3000 rpms down the road. I dont think his revving issue is related to fuel pressure. Granted it is low and could have caused some damage to the vp, it should still rev. nNow he has got the fuel pressure in check, we shouldnt ask him to spend a fortune on a vp just yet. There are many other fault areas that can be checked. Starting with the apps. You should get a scanner that can do live data and check the throttle percentage as you push the pedal down. It should go from 0 to 100 percent. If not then you could have a bad apps sensor.
  10. No, the airdog should not be cutting out. I would check the wires going to it and make sure all the connections are snug and doesnt have any pinched wires anywhere along the frame.
