a have a couple VP44 questions
If you do some extensive searching in the various forums, you will find some threads where people have done modifications to increase the cooling to the VP. I saw one where there was added ducting to get more outside air funneled in and directed onto the VP. Add a large aluminum heat sink at or near the electronics (think of the large ones used to cool very large SCRs or transistors...with lots of fins)...and combine with external air venting - and you can really add additional cooling to the VP.[Alternately - live in a cool area where the highs are seldom above 80's, the overall average temperature might be 50 - 60 degrees, and those modifications might not be needed!!! Try the Pacific North Wet - where it is mild mild mild!]

98.5 OEM Fuel Filter
2 part question - a. The consensus thus far is there is no problem going to a 1/2" hose fitting - and lots of people have gone the "Big Line" kit (ditto for my installations...it is a nice kit and easy to use.) b. Considering going to a larger drilled banjo bolt is really asking for problems...I would not trust the system because the bolt becomes much weaker with the larger holes - but you still have flow obstructions, the requirement for directional changes ...and you have to deal with the gasketed washers at each side of the banjo fitting. Nothing worth keeping in that design!!

lift pump.... I would of sworn it was in the tank!
Roger that .....My kit came with the 2 "sandwich plates" - and the 3rd piece that is seen - the piece that holds the pump/2 filter assembly. I didn't see the 4th piece - the piece that mounts to the sandwich plate and then holds the 3rd piece....I must have seen the 3 main items and thought that they could have multiple configurations for mounting - but when I looked at my brackets - I didn't observe mounting holes that would be needed...and then there might be clearance issues. My unit is mounted parallel to the rail rather than perpendicular - even if I had the option of going perpendicular - I am not sure of any advantage for my truck to go to a different configuration. (I think you indicated that for your truck - with lots of off-roading, your configuration tucks it close to the skid plate and gives it more protection - something I don't need.)

Great point - one I hadn't discovered when reading the lengthy manuals for each!

Need help I.O.D. fuse blown
BFI ( brute force and Ignorance). Use a pair of long nose pliers ..squeeze and pull out. Discard the plastic keeper.....it really isn't needed - or, "pop" the top piece off so that you retain the appearance of the frame (fast identification of the IOD) ...but you can pull the fuse through the top.

What fuel pressure do you run if you have a gauge?
On my 4x4 - I have a FASS - with 1/2" line from FASS to original filter (left in place) ...and Vulcan Big Line from original filter to the IP. NO BANJO Fittings in the system! Pressure is about 18 at idle, and 16 at WOT.On my 2WD - I have an off-brand external fuel pump boosting an in-tank fuel pump to supply fuel directly to the original filter (removing the stupid aluminum block that the dealers used when "upgrading" from the original block mounted lift pump - but they were too cheap to fix fuel lines...). Then - Vulcan Big line from original filter to the IP. Again - no Banjo fittings in the system. Pressure is 20 psi at idle and 17 at WOT. (I have a FRRP to install when I get some free time to lift up the truck bed and install a draw straw and re-configure the fuel lines and the electrical power to the pump.

help on diagnosis.... 2000 ram ctd with 6 speed
MoparMan recommends a ScanGauge, but you can also check out UltraGauge - which is about 1/2 the cost, and has many of the same capabilities - including both real time monitoring AND reading codes! (I have one each, and haven't figured out which I like more!!]

lift pump.... I would of sworn it was in the tank!
Are you sure it is no longer produced; I put in an AD150 4 months ago, and the kit came with the brackets. Makes installation NICE!!
