Currently I have a stock 47re trans as far as my knowledge ( Previous owner had it rebuild but no records of the work done). End goal is to take the truck to 300 - 350hp and cap it. I want to build a reliable towing trans out of what I have and eventually look at a GearVendor gear splitter if I ever get around to it. As it stands now though, its a completely stock motor and trans combo that all works like it should but I want to try to get ahead of the ball on doing the preventative maintenance on it. I'd like to know what I will have to get swapped out and recommendations on what to get. I'd rather overkill the trans than it give out on my 1000+ mile road trips with the Deckover trailer behind it. Any opinions are appreciated.

I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 5.9l that is stock other than a Predator mechanical fuel pump that I have recently put on. I have had the issue even before I've done any work to the truck of there being brief second of no power and then returning like nothing happened. I will be driving normal (Smooth accelerations) and every once in a while the truck will loose power and go back to normal in a matter of a second. I've always thought it was a problem with the stock lift pump on the side of the motor so i recently replaced it with a predator lift pump and haven't seen it run below 14psi. But even after I did so it still does this intermittent loss of power issue. It can vary from every other ride to weeks between cycles. I have no codes or lights on the dash and am starting to think it might be the VP disagreeing with me and wanting to quit. I have no tunes or anything going on with it and I tried resetting the APPS and nothing has changed it. Only other thing I could think of is air or suds making its way to the Injection pump every so often. Anyone have any thoughts?

My 01 started running a little rough intermittently. It did it once and quit. Hell I thought it was a glitch but about 3 weeks later it was running rough again. I changed the fuel filter with no change. Then I changed the lift pump and it ran better but not good. I wasn’t having any issues with it starting at all, just randomly would get loss of power. At this point I was still driving it to work but it was getting worse. You could turn of the key going down the highway and boom it would run good again, maybe for a minute or the rest of the day. It finally got to where it would take a few minutes to start so I went ahead and changed the VP44. It ran perfect for 2 days and now it is back to hard starting and has a loss of power as soon as it shifts gears. Only code currently is the P0216. I checked grounds and all looked good. I’m a newbie and don’t have a clue as y’all probably can tell by now. I got the VP44 from thoroughbred diesel! Blow my little pea brain and tell me where to go from here! Thanks
